With all of the FX-9s arriving in Canada now I thought it would be a good time to start an OWNERS thread for the exchange of information and build related posts on the latest pcc 9mm blowback series of firearms available from Freedom Ordnance.

I will add pertinent info and updates to this original post here ... as they present themselves .

New addition .... https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...or-Freedom-Ordnance-FX-9-and-Ruger-PC-Carbine

Here is a link to the minor extractor mod that can be done to improve ejection apperantly. Freedom Ordnance does this mod now on all FX-9 moving forward.

My personal experience to date :

Out of the box the rifle was dryer than a popcorn fart. I mean it’s like this thing was kiln dried it was so freakin dry. Common sense told me not to cycle it like this so off to the bench it went for basic disassembly and inspection. Everything looked ok but I have to say I was mighty disappointed in that pathetic charging handle.

With a generous appplication of oil applied I reassembled it and began hand cycling it and noticed it starting to smooth out almost immediately. After reading threads here on CGN about users requiring. “ break in “ period and having issues in the first 200 rounds fired etc. I decided to get that all out of the way right at home so I cycled it about 300 times while practicing dry firing and mag loading before hitting the range for the first time with it.

That range experience and initial impression was posted here.

I’m thinking of replacing the trigger for the Fx9 but on a budget. Any recommendations?
Debating between ALG ACT and Hiperfire EDT heavy gunner. Both had good reviews and pretty cheap. Any thoughts/experience ???

I test fired my FX9 Sunday in -12 weather. The gun was dry out of the box. I lubbed the trigger group with balistol and greased the bolt with slipstream grease and lots of it. I put 170 rounds through the gun with zero issue. The first 50 rounds where 124gr Xmetal 121PF hand loads. The remainder was 147gr xmetal hand loads at about 130pf. OAL was 1.010.
Other than greasing the bolt I polished the anodizing off of the feed ramp starting at 400 grit and moving to 800 grit.

Not only was the gun 100% reliable for all 170 rounds at about 10-12m I was putting all the rounds in a group the size of the quarter off hand.

Its actually crazy how accurate this rifle is with good ammunition.

Here you go GTNgo ... bearing in mind that the manufacturer does not recommend replacing the trigger on the FX-9 so don’t expect warranty support if you do these members seem to be having luck with the following :

So i put approx 250 rounds through today with only 1 stoppage. However, on the last 40 rounds it seemed like the bolt hold open got gunked up and wouldnt work by itself.

Has anyone had this happen? Assuming i just over-oiled it and it attracted all that carbon down into the channel it runs through, gonna take it apart tomorrow and take a look.

I bought one of the 8.5” versions from IRUNGUNS. So much fun...!

I’ve done one IDPA PCC match with it and I think everyone there was impressed. I’ve put some bling on it, but operationally it’s bone stock.

I have probably 3-400 rounds through it and have had two instances of the dreaded double FTE/FTL malfunction. Someone mentioned a ‘secret squirrel’ fix for this, but it could be I was just still in break-in period.

Nice ! I was hoping you’d chime in here . A lot of people don’t realize you can get the “ pistol “ variant of the FX-9 here in Canada. C’mon tempt us all with a pic or two of that little gem of yours.

I just installed the CMC Standard 3.5 lb trigger. I know about the manufacturer warnings but after using Googlefu I chose the CMC. I know it wasn't the inexpensive option but it's like a new rifle. The original trigger had a long gritty take up and I wasn't sure when the shot would break. Probably due to my lack of skill, experience. Started with one round, then increased the mag capacity to confirm there wouldn't be any bump fires. I really liked the rifle when I got it, now I love it! I have a Vortex Strike Eagle 1x6 on it and planning to change the pistol grip to something more vertical.

Are there any left handed owners of the FX-9 out there? I'm thinking about getting one, but I will admit the thought of any "blowback" stuff (brass, gases, unburned powder) makes me hesitant. Please any lefties out there, chime in with your observations. Any "righties" want to do an experiment for me, That would be greatly appreciated.

Has worked flawlessly with
Federal 115gr aluminum (the rounds it says not to use)
Blazer 125gr brass
Champion HP
Barnaul 115gr steel

Every glock mag I have put in them has resulted in no jams or failures.

I have over 1500 rounds through mine now and compete PCC in IDPA with it. It runs flawlessly. Running my reloads. Campro 124 Gr. 4.2Gr Titegroup. Im running Magpul GlockPmags and have some 33s on order.
Upgrades are Magpul sling, Sling QD mounts, magpul angled foregrip, Streamlight Protac HLX, Vortex red dot. Soon I will order a muzzle break to see how much recoil. Im really interested in what people are doing successfully with trigger upgrades.

I've posted this pic already:

I have a few parts on order from ## Tech (god knows when they will arrive!): Holosun 510C (the Sightmark is a bit big for the build), Strike Industries Mini-King comp an Oppressor blast shield. New pic when I get it updated...!

I'm curious about drop-in triggers that may eventually mate well with the FX-9 - I thought one of the major manufacturers was rolling out a 9mm PCC specific drop-in..?

I'd consider the NR version just to keep in the safe as well - but after my next AR15 build...lol

Yes, you get a bit of a blast in the face. Tolerable, but righties will enjoy the experience more. It really is a fun gun to shoot, so
wear your eye protection and have at it. Some ammo is apparently peppering you with less hot particles than others.

Also, I'm going to work on a deflector that prevents me from getting freckled on half my face.

Not sure the ones made for an AR will work, but this is the idea I'm thinking about https://www.brownells.co.uk/A3-BRASS-DEFLECTOR-TC-ACCESSORIES-INC-Black-100001134
