Parts list:
Magpul MOE-K grip
Magpul CTR Carbine stock
Magpul AFK M-Lok
Strike Industries AR-15 Carbine Flat Wire Spring
CMC 9mm PCC Flat Blade 3.5lbs Single-stage trigger
Freedom Ordnance FX-9 Enhanced Charging Handle
Vortex Spitfire 3x Prism Optic

Future upgrades
Either Strike Industries Optimus Modular weight buffer or Odin Works 9mm AR adjustable buffer
-Having a hard time deciding if I need the extra weight that the Odin is capable of taking with a 3rd tungsten weight or if the Optimus will be just fine. Also finding the Odin works part is kinda hit-and-miss from my few searches.
Maybe some more magpul parts like a different trigger guard or rubberized covers over the M-lok handguard just for improved grip.

I've put 1,300 rounds of Federal Syntech 130grn and now 1,400 rounds of Remington UMC 124grn FMJ through my FX-9 since I got it from Red Deer Shooting Center back in December and have another 2,000 rounds of the Remington UMC for the next couple months. I only experienced failures to feed during the first 1-200 rounds in part due to how dry the gun was from the factory and until I replaced the buffer spring with the Strike Industries one. The new buffer spring was about 30% longer by my eyeball estimate and chambers rounds much more vigorously which eliminated the feed issues entirely. That being said the gun does prefer to chamber rounds when released via the bolt hold open rather than me pulling back the charging handle manually (probably human error tbh). I have the original SGM mag and 4 Magpul 17rd mags pinned to 10 and all have functioned flawlessly since day one.

The mag release Is proprietary/unique to the FX-9 so your average AR15 extended mag release won’t fit. I’ve also found the frame is ever so slightly narrower than AR mil-spec so the ambi-safety may have some play, as may anti-walk pins...

I ended up using an Odin 9mm with a Geissele spring and the JP spacer (and tried quarters) in my A2 buffer tube. The Odin buffer has the easy access Allen head screw to quick change the weights. The FX9 BCG is heavy and cycled fine with no tungsten weights in the buffer.

The JP worked with the spacer however the ejector needed to be removed to allow for the insertion and removal from the tube which wasn’t very practical. The Silent Captured Spring will work with just enough clearance for the buffer spring retainer screw. The JP will not work with any 9mm AR15 BCG because of the weight in the carrier.

Did the armaspec work ok? I thank I see one in your picture

No it will not work because of the BCG’s smaller inside hole diameter which the rod from the buffer must go through. In the picture attached the FX9 is on the left compared to the AR BCG and you can see what I am referring too.

Might be a bit of a basic Q here but I just ordered an fx9, should be here in a day or two. I already have a vortex venom that I'd like to use on it but that optic is pretty small and low. What's a cheap/good riser that I can use to lift the optic up to a more reasonable level? It's my first AR-like boom stick. Everything else is just shotguns and bolt actions lol

Where is everyone buying their 10/3X mags? I heard the ETS mags work well with these guns? I'm not heading to the range with only a single 10rd factory mag lol

I am currently running CNC PCC trigger, no issues at all. I ran a POF 3.5 straight for a while but put it back in a different build.

Single stage works for me when shooting IPSC, you are slapping the trigger more than taking controlled shots I find. It all depends on what you ware doing with the rife.

Who here has removed the factory flash hider? I'd like to remove it and replace with a low profile thread protector. I don't do much gun work so I don't exactly have gunsmithing tools or equipment. I'm worried about just taking vise grips or a pipe wrench to the birdcage cause all the torque gets transferred to the barrel. Any tips? How did you remove it?

Bullseye has the mags your looking for, 33rd'ers pinned to 10 of course. Your best bet would be to clamp the barrel in some soft jaws and then get a good screwdriver through the ports on the flash hider to get your lefty loosy on. Have you tried to loosen it at all?

Got some new bits and pieces for my 8" FX-9 so it was time for some new pics...!

Elite Tactical Systems ETS Glock 17 Magazine Clear/Red (in the second pic - purchased from "the vendor that shall not be named on CGN")
"Unfair Advantage" Magazine Baseplate (red and black)
Some no-name red trigger guard I got on ebay...

Internals are stock - I prefer a heavier trigger pull and the OEM trigger gives me that, and I've never had issues with the buffer or spring (as some have noted previously).

The 8" barrel FX-9 was imported by IRUNGUNS - came with the US "Pistol" stock and tube.

I have done the super easy bolt mod and it has been 100% since then...not one FTE. I shoot IDPA PCC division with this and it is fun and fast!!!

Absolutely Slick!!!!

I'm looking to purchase the Timney PCC Model 681 (the curved one) trigger from my FX-9. I've sent off a message to IRUNGUNS (haven't heard back yet) but does anyone know who has these in stock or can get them again. One of the sponsors on here (as I inquired about purchasing this from them) said they didn't want to order it as it had "AR" in the actual name of the trigger even though it's not for an AR. He didn't want any troubles at the border with the order.

Help?

Would really appreciate some more info and a picture of how you did this. The play between upper and lower is annoying me.

Check out this video. I thought mine was the only one that had a little wiggle in it. All of my AR's are solid but this rifle isn't. I'm going to try this and then an ACCU-Wedge.

Hope this helps you out!

Not sure if this will be of any use to you but Red Deer Shooting Centre carries Timney and CMC PCC triggers. I got my CMC 3.5lbs flat blade trigger from them and I believe they had either the curved or flat blade Timney version a well. Best of luck!
