THE great Marstar update thread.

For what it's worth, while I may be in the minority here on CGN, I do think that twitter is a very effective and efficient way for businesses to update customers.

A sticky is only good for Marstar's customers that frequent CGN and check the sticky on a regular basis.

I agree 100%

Twitter is an effective and simple tool to leverage for business purposes.

Same with RSS feeds.

The feds are watching you in Facebook.

And you don't think they're watching you here?!?!?!?!:p

On topic, I think John needs to keep his website updated a little better than he does now. I understand it isn't easy, though.

A sticky thread in this forum that only John can update would be a good idea IMHO.

It's not the feds you need to look out for on facebook, it's the people who you add as friends and feel the need to report any 'unusual' activity to the police.

I havent read a single logical objection to the use of facebook for marstar customer/prospect updates.

"I dont like facebook" or "I dont use facebook" are hardly convincing arguments.

The vast majority of young people, i would say at least 80% of the people i know use Facebook and among my friends involved in the shooting sports virtually all use FB and comparatively few use CGN.

There seems to be an unjustified derogatory attitude towards facebook...i suspect it is being espoused by individuals who dont use it and have no regard of its universality among 25 and unders.

It will only cost time and a small effort to create, maintain and keep an FB page updated. The people you reach via that medium will be future customers. Not luddites and late adopters...and it doesnt matter what they think of a marketing effort not directed at them.

If you want text updates on your phone, click "thread tools", then "subscribe to this thread". In the subscription page, choose "instant email updates" and enter in your phone's email address as the address to receive updates. Text-capable cell phones have email addresses, typically something like <phone_number>@text.mtsmobility.net or something. It won't give you the full text of the update, but will let you know an update to the thread has been made.
