Well, after a while of using my Green Machine, I always lusted after having a folding stock.
I was able to finally source a folding ACE stock hinge, so I decided to pull the trigger and make a new folding stock block for my USC-UMP conversion!
This one is very similar to the HDPS Stock block C, aside from the lack of a top 'hood', it also has 4 screws that go into the block instead of 2, which is much more durable. The BIG thing about my conversion, was the lack of an AR15 buffer tube adapter, which adds extra length which I didn't want!
So compared to my original stock block (which had an extremely short LOP) this guy adds only 1/8th of an inch extra length when fully collapsed, and obviously adds the ability to fold!
Instead of using an external threaded doohickey to attach the stock, I cut the stock off flush to where the stock fully collapsed, and then added an aluminum insert which was epoxied and screwed in (2 screws in through the bottom, then ground off flush). This got rid of the need for extra length!
And I still have my infamous sling plate single point sling loop, so you can use a single point sling with the stock folded or deployed.
Now the cool factor is pretty darned high on this puppy now, and besides, trying to stuff all my guns into 1 gun case for trips to the range was getting a bit difficult
In the last picture, you can just see a small relief cut in the AR15 buffer tube, this is to allow it to fold flat to the receiver. Right now the Magpul CTR I have isn't modified, so it has to be 1 click out (normal usage position for me anyways) to fold flat. I have planned to relief cut the CTR, but I haven't decided if I'm gonna trade it for an OD green one yet, or keep it black to help break up the guns lines a bit.
