The GSG 16 modification thread

Just a little work in progress pic. Still more work to be done including making a shorter barrel with a trilug

How did you do the upper like that?

+1, Hero Outdoors inventory is BS, always "in-stock" while it is most definitely not...

As other said:

Tiger111hk
Evike
WGCShop
Ebairsoft
Tokyomodel.com.hk

Those are all stand up retailers

I'm getting mine soon, can't wait to start tinkering with it

Question:

Is there any method to prevent that small spring from falling out inside the receiver during disassembly? Like a certain way to have the rifle positioned when pulling the bolt assembly out or something? Thanks,

Ha. I just cleaned the rifle yesterday and dropped that spring. I didn't know I lost it until I found it on the floor.

I tilt the rife to the left, I never once dropped that spring.

What did you do with those two gold coloured retainers which hold the screws for the top pic rail? Did you remove them or does your machined piece cover them up?

I was thinking of sanding the top of the receiver so it’s rounded, and then filling the top of the receiver with an epoxy plastic filler to cover the gap.

No! Avoid them completely. Google them, they are horrid.

I ordered a couple “in stock” items from them on November 28th, and they finally arrived to me TODAY. These guys are Toronto based!

Use Tiger111HK instead.

Agreed. But Tiger 111HK charged me for a handguard but did not ship it.They said it is backordered but they are still listed on the sight as in stock.
So still trying to find a handguard.

I machined new “stand offs” in addition to the top rail. The only problem with doing it your way is that the receiver splits in two, and with an epoxy filler you will probably have permanently attached both receiver halves.

I did think about that and I am debating using a mouldable rubber that would peel out, if need be. When would we need to split the receiver anyways? Just for parts malfunction I assume. So I wouldn’t need to strip the rubber out often. I still feel like I might be taking the “Bubba” approach with the rubber though.

Anyone have any better ideas? I can’t machine my own parts.

That's the first time I have heard anything negative about them. Did they tell you how long the backorder?

Same thing with me...

Yeah I ordered something in stock, ordered was updated to "waiting package" I didn't hear nothing for weeks. Emailed them, didn't get a replay till few days later. They said that they are waiting for restock. Also nothing about being closed. But when I went to look, huge banner I didn't see before saying that they are closed and not process orders till the 29th.

The item was assumed in stock, because nothing said otherwise. Business shouldn't be able to take people money when they don't got the item.( If item not in stock, give the option to cancel right there, or contact the person and ask if they want to wait ) Not take money and ghost them. Esp when it doesn't give you an option to back order.

And if China closes for a month, they should shut down the stores so no orders can be made.

I do have to say that my experience with Hero Outdoors is not as bad as others. I have placed a few orders with them. Everything, except Airsoft parts, went really smoothly. It is frustrating that everything Airsoft is listed as “in stock” when it is clearly not. When I contacted the store about this (by phone), they immediately gave me a refund.
So, other than the sight not being accurate with respect to in stock items, I have found Hero to be good to deal with.
Just my 2 cents.

Hero ignored my phone calls and emails. I’m still waiting for a handguard to ship, and it’s been two months now. I’ve received half of my order.

Exceptionally poor customer service, in my opinion.

Looks like CP left a notice for me when I was out today.

My MP5 Cyma stock from Hero Outdoors is waiting for me at my local post office.

Ordered on Jan22, delivered Jan29.
