The GSG 16 modification thread

Hey guys, finally got the rifle back from Dlask and installed all the extra parts. You guys have been extra helpful with your recommendations and suggestions, so thank you for that!
The parts list:

GSG-16 + 522 conversion (IRUNGUNS)
Dlask conversion
Fixed stock by CYMA (evike)
Top rail delete by DropTheBomb
HK metal pins (HKParts)
HK rear sight (HKParts)
Magpul SL MP5 handguard (Brownells)
Magpul AFG2 (Brownells)
small no-name top rail from Amazon (will replace as I don't like the quality)
SigSauer Romeo 4T
Thread Protector (Down Range Products)

noiice. how did you screw the folder? so it would be legal. nevermind, i dont have a stock like that.

How'd you get HK Parts to ship to Canada?
 
Usually by shipping to a US address and asking a friend to forward it to me after. I tried asking them to ship directly but they do not offer that service. Out of all companies I think only Brownells ship directly here without any issues.

Nice rifle, Technically you need fixed pins ( Stock GSG 16 Chicago screws ) in a GSG with a 9" barrel installed. And if that stock folds, It is under 26" OAL. So would be a unregistered restricted.

Cool, but still the HK pins are not legal with the 9" barrel. Due to you can remove them without any tools, and make it less than 26" OAL.

Unfortunately yes.

NOTE - If you have not fitted a fixed butt stock to the rifle then we will have to 'pin' your stock open. By default this will be to the minimum length needed to keep the OAL above 660mm. If you want a longer LOP then please add that in a note inside the box. Cost for this will be +$15.00 to the barrel swap charge.

NOTE - If you have installed a fixed butt stock you MUST have a screw of some sort holding it to the receiver. The simple H&K style push pin is not sufficient since it is quickly removable without the use of tools. If you send the rifle in with just the push pin installed then we cannot do the swap. This is non negotiable so please don't ask.

Has anyone tried using an airsoft all metal housing to replace the plastic housing of the GSG?

I read that they molded the GSG from an airsoft mp5, so maybe there could be a possibility that a metal housing could work.

Just read that GSG used to sell the GSG522 in a metal housing style as well so they are out there.

Just take the space out between https and ://www etc when you put those in the address bar. For some reason people don't like direct links from CGN to other places, no idea why, but I'll respect that... I guess.

I am looking for the link with info about GSG selling the GSG-5 or GSG-16 with metal housing style.

Both links are about the airsoft versions

yes, gsg 5 & 522 had metal upper but plastic lower. you already know the upper would not be legal here.

the internal set up for airsoft mp5 would not be compatible with a 22lr.

GSG 5 and 552 are prohib in Canada, as variants of the MP5. You might open a huge can of worms converting a airsoft into a working firearm. Due to the upper receiver being the registered part.
