The GSG 16 modification thread

I knew it was a blow back firearm, I’ve just never experienced it with any other blowback type firearm.
And it wasn’t a little bit, it was every shot.
Thought it was kind of odd.

I think just because the bolt setup that it's gonna do it no matter what. Maybe make a brass deflector?

Hey could you guys help a guy out with a bit of advice.

I bought this for my 13 year old son and I’m looking for an optic.
I was thinking either a RDS or a 1-6 .
Using it for plinking and small game.

Also is there an aftermarket trigger available, one with a faster reset.

Thanks

I put a 40$ TRS 25 clone on mine. Dot isn't as bright as a real one, It works good enough. Though about a 3x magnifier for mine.

The rails on the handguard look atrocious, was hoping to replace it with something that looks more traditional. Anybody tried airsoft parts for the handguard? I mean some adjustments might have to be made of course, but curious as to whether it's worth the effort. If not I was thinking of experimenting with 3d printing or making a mold instead.

Many folks replaced them with the SD style handguard offered by Wal-Mart greeter. I used an airsoft (VFC) MP5 handguard. It's triangular style. You could also just remove the rails. It looks something like the original HK54 MP5 of the 60's.

Here's mine before the GSG 5/522 conversion kit.

That looks great! I've seen plenty with the SD grip, but wasn't sure about the tropical forearm. I'll have to order one for myself, thanks a lot!

The top rail delete/mp5 receiver top doesn’t work

The mag release is touchy to get back together

Careful with the mag disconnect spring in the trigger pack it’ll pop out

The charging handle tube is attached to the trunion like thing with BOTH top screws

Not one like in the YouTube videos

The spring guide rod is a ##### to line up and the nuts that hold the upper halves together - jeeeeesus
Good luck

Be patient with the screws they strip easy

3mm Allen - 4mm Allen - thin flat head x2 - grease to hold parts in place - tweezers and a good light

Gsg collapsible stock goes on easy - a real one yes
You’ll have to bore out the one side pin hole a few mil for hk pins to work

I’ll sell it for $2500 if anyone’s interested

For the love of God buy a good quality T10 Torx head screwdriver.

1. Removed fore stock rails x4.
2. Removed fore stock support.
3. Removed Front end and replaced with GSG 5 front end from GSG 5/522 conversion kit.
4. Installed new GSG 5 charging handle from GSG 5 from GSG 5/522 conversion kit.
5. Installed VFC airsoft fore stock.
6. Removed old lower and replaced with new GSG 5 lower from GSG 5/522 conversion kit.
7. Removed old selector and replaced with GSG 5 selector from GSG 5/522 conversion kit.
8. Installed high metal front sight from GSG 5/522 conversion kit.
9. Removed stock rear sight and drilled new screw hole just above existing screw hole and removed lower material below new hole. This was needed to align rear sight with the lower sight height from the GSG 5/522 conversion kit front end.
10. Removed rear rail. Was in the way for lower sight clearance.
11. Installed G&G 3 position airsoft stock with minor fitting.
12. Just waiting on rear rail delete from Wall-Mart greeter.

Just installed the conversion kit but the cocking tube housing doesnt seem to have the hole in the bottom to accord the screw so now the front of the lower handguard is loose. Normal? I know this kit wasn't exactly designed for the GSG16. Also, I didn't install the reciever cap. I have no clue where it goes.

Nothing should be loose. I'd take a break and come back with fresh eyes, it should all fit perfectly.

If by receiver cap you mean the piece of garbage pot metal that sits sandwiched between the two halves of the receiver, yeah junk that.

Just installed the conversion kit, my handguard is slightly loose too at the front. (Front factory screw doesn’t have anywhere to go into the GSG 5 cocking tube.

Wal-Mart how is your handguard attached? Just the two screws one on each side by the magwell? (Just to clarify I have your printed SD hanguard but I’m talking about the factory one underneath that it’s attached to).

Thanks
