The GSG 16 modification thread

Hmm funny. I have a screw in that position. It isn't perfectly tight, it feels like I could strip it completely by over tightening if I wanted to, but the screw is definitely biting into something (plastic it feels like)...

My fore end is not loose.

Sorry I don't have the time to completely strip it right now but I will try to get some pics of what my screw is biting into lol

Pinned collapsible stock. Well technically not pinned but rather the adjusting mechanism is welded locked.

 
That looks great!! I need a short barrel and a second rifle... How was removal of the old barrel and reinstallation of the new? Did you have a gunsmith do it or were you able to do it yourself? If so difficulty 1-10? (Or cost).

Edit: Caught up in the Dlask thread. I thought that it had stalled. Looking forward to them cranking these out in the new year.

Hey WalMart I’m wondering if you would be willing to print a “transition” piece for the top rail where it meets the Conversion kit Cocking tube. There’s a gap between where the rear rail ends and drops to the cocking tube.
Any ideas?

I can do like a mini rail delete but since there's nothing there at all to fasten to, it would be hollowed out with a channel for 3M double sided tape to keep it down.
 
Hmm it's possible, but the end opposite of the pic rail may flop up and down if it's only secured at the one end? Lemme see if I can dig up one of my rail sections and take a look. I do have one other custom job to do first but I will get back to you.
 
Mine so far... Changed out the pistol grip & cocking handle housing and took off the front 1/2 of the top rail and the 3 rails on the front hand guard. Makes it much slimmer!

Can’t wait to have Dlask install their 9" barrel, then I may add a different hand guard up front, a fixed rear solid stock (pm’s with leads on where to get one would be appreciated) and a HoloSun HS510C to complete it...

Hey guys,

In the GSG-5 conversion kit ... can we use the receiver cap on our 16's? It looks like we can't because of the pic rail molded into the receiver on the 16's.

It's item #5 in the conversion kit (see pic).

Can anyone confirm? I have my 16 here, but I'm awaiting the arrival of the conversion kit so I'm just not sure.

You really can't for all practicality. If you removed the receiver rail, epoxied in the cap, then got crafty with sanding off the receiver to contour and match up the cap... then yea it would work. Let me know how that goes.

Anybody else who installed the GSG 5 Conversion kit have a slight wiggle at the front of their handguard? It seems that the front screw (appx under the front sight) has nothing to go into on the new cocking tube.

Any suggestions?

The option I went with is the GSG 522 receiver rail delete from Wall-Mart greeter. He sells his stuff in the EE under rimfire accessories.

I put a 40$ TRS 25 clone on mine. Dot isn't as bright as a real one, It works good enough. Though about a 3x magnifier for mine.

Where did you get the clone?

Does the 3x make much difference. I see Cab has them on clearance

That’s exactly what I did. However, I was just curious if we could hack/modify the top of the rear receiver so it’s flush all the way along the top of the rifle, true to an MP5. And now I know!

Yea it can be done and one guy on here did it. I would think autobody skills with bondo etc would be needed.

Got an airsoft stock (thanks Sky52) and a HoloSun HS510C.

Now for the Dlask barrel, a 3 prong adapter, and G&P MP5 flashlight hand guard with pressure switch...
