The GSG 16 modification thread

so kool. i would then file down the mount that holds the rail.

For those that have attached a claw mount to their GSG16's, how stable is it? Will it shimmy around or is it solid?

Very solid compared to the factory plastic rails secured with the 2 brass threaded inserts. It does need to filed down slightly on the claws and the top rail removed to get it low enough. The plastic rail and inserts are not to be trusted at all, unless using a light small red dot.

Factory rail:

What brand of mount do you have? Just a standard Airsoft one? Mostly I was just concerned with the claws biting into the plastic body and if recoil will damage it.

Recoil? I don't think that it's stronk enough to damage the parts in this way...

If I had the patience and non-lazyness I'd even try to make a 3d design for a scope mount for the gsg to see if it keeps its zero, but im lazy, so no.

Can someone measure the normal mount for the rear sight off their GSG? (width, height, length)

I filed mine to fit a barrel sight, but like an idiot I didn't measure it before modding it.

I want to see if I can make a 3D design that would allow mounting an HK style barrel sight on the OEM mounting area without filing off the receiver parts.

Cheers

I need the measurements of the receiver stub, not the actual screw on sight cap as shown below:

There is this on Thingiverse. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4191304

But currently I have a solution cooked up for filling the top of the receiver/mounting a HK drum sight for a proper MP5 look, just finalizing details and potentially trying to get my grubby hands on a SLS printed version.

Will be posting soon!

Thanks,

Are those from the same user who stole walmart greeter's designs though??

I also filed off my receiver top to fit an HK sight on mine, I was looking for a solution for the rear that doesn't modifiy the receiver (like my front post HK mod a couple of posts up)

Here you go in imperial

Top view shows centre of hole about 0.285" from front of mount nub.

All the top edges are radiused (back) or chamfered (sides) but a square 'hole' would fit over it.

It is 0.34 from top of nub to top of rear part of the upper receiver

No clue, just what I found by searching for things to print for my GSG. I have a solution that does just that, finishing up more prints to be 100% all fits before posting it up.

How high is the center of the eye of the OEM rear sight to the top of the rail attached? (like in my picture for post 673)

If that doesnt make sense, I'm looking to make a piece that would keep the same sight level as the OEM pieces.
