The GSG 16 modification thread

At some point, we will probably have a custom "CGN 3D conversion kit" going on :)

I'm pretty sure I'd be on board for that. It's difficult to just like one design everyone has created. All of these are truly stunning. Dlask has done really well with the barrels too. As usual. Funny how they used to be one of my AR go to people. Lol!

Here is another theory. Could we not get a barrel for the GSG15, as well? Just thinking on future projects. Is the barrel the same?
Maybe GSG will make a Tavor copy as the GSG17. That would be cool, I think. Lol!

All the mods are cool guys but how reliable are these guns? How many rounds can you go through before cleaning? Any weak points/jamming problems/mag problems?

From watching their videos, I'd say they do really well. The standard GSG16 seems to eat all kinds of ammo (at least mine does without mods). Dlask seems to have perfected the barrels. I'm willing to give it a shot. These are so much less complicated being without a gas system to worry about.

I have a Dlask 9” and a regular untouched one, I usually shoot 250 to up to 450-500 rounds. Two or three shooters so the rifle is going almost nonstop. The failure rate is VERY Low with both and I can’t notice any difference between the two. There are I’d say 0-3 or so failures in that span of shooting and I would attribute it to the ammo not the firearm.

Ammo being used is all bulk stuff Remington Golden bullet bucket (dirtiest), Winchester M22 (not bad), federal cphp (so far my favorite) left the gun Noticeably cleaner and 0 failures.

I clean after every time out and while it will probably run for longer it does start to feel a bit gritty after a couple of hundred rounds.

Looking forward to all the 3D parts people are designing they look really good!

Can't complain about that. I'm convinced. Are you the one on YouTube? We need more range videos with the 9" barrel. It makes the US jealous. Lol!

I fed mine with bulk Federal and it ate that up no problem. It was so fun I dumped an entire 525 box in a session..woops lol

Only the odd ejected shell failing to get clear for me but that was maybe once every 5-7 mags? otherwise flawless

I haven't been able to take my 9" Dlask GSG to the range. Currently sitting in a box waiting for a replacement gun.

But gives me a chance to shoot the 16", and do some group tests. Before switching to the 9"

Some years ago I dumped the remnants of three different bulk packs from three different manufacturers into an old Nalgene bottle I had around. That's what I took to the range last weekend.

My GSG (16" tube) ate several hundred of them with few malfunctions, mostly of the FTE variety. I think with proper, consistent HV ammunition the damn thing will shoot better than I can, and will be reliable to the point of monotony.

Very impressed with the little thing. It really is a lot of fun with a red dot, a multitude of dirt clods that need busting up and a cool drink handy.

What happened????

Been having that streak where you break more than you fix. I tried to shave the receiver and fit the receiver cap in the GSG kit. I should have stopped at shaving, but decided to start fitting the receiver cap. But then noticed a few of the screw holes were almost stripped, and the was a tab broken down by the mag release. I don't remember the tab broken off prior to sending it to dlask. Basically is a write off. Tried to put in a service ticket for a replacement receiver but never heard anything back in 2 weeks.

Crap! Sorry dude. You will get a new toy out of it though. I'm still working on collecting all the colours. Lol!

Oh well lesson learned. It is my most $$ .22. Ill be selling some of the parts to recoup some costs. Without adding the new GSG. I have 2 bolts, 2 trigger assemblies, 2 stocks, the old 16" barrel, and the mock shroud. I already sold the OEM forearm and rails and cocking front sight assembly. I had 2 of them. I bought a box of parts. Guy must have pulled a me, and didn't need the extra parts.

I'm still reading along this forum to pin point what average to best 22 type will work well.

Funny in these discussions to hear some hiccups. Too use to all the other 223 and 9mm stuff that I have never had one issue.

Either way this thing looks so fun :)

So,
Question to the masses. Will certain metal airsoft cocking handles, fit on the 16? That's a question for those of us who could not get the conversion kit. Lol!

Another thing. Shouldn't we make a new designation for the new short GSG16? I vote for "GSG16k" for Kurtz. AKA, short. What do you think? Only thinking from past German products that would add "k" on the end of their shorter carbines and smg's. Like the MP5k for example. Can we make this official???? Lol!

Don’t talk about fight club.... :)

I think Dlask deserves the credit for making a fun little gun even cooler...
So Dlask GSG16....

(and maybe they can make us more cool parts for it... hint hint...)
