The GSG 16 modification thread

I also have two DTB rails, but I haven’t installed them on the rifle yet. They look to be great quality. I’d recommend his rail, he does great work!

I installed the DTB top rail tonight. It fits very well! Highly recommended.

Splitting the receiver case in half to install the rail, is a real #####. When I re-installed the spring for the cocking tube, now it seems harder to pull back and is also noisy. This gun certainly is a love/hate relationship.

Wow, I had no problem splitting my virgin GSG.

Same here, no issues splitting the halves... did GSG add some/more epoxy/glue/etc in later rifles?

Well mine was already previously split by a local gunsmith to install the Dlask 9”. So maybe that made it worse, I don’t know.

Hopefully it still functions fine when I take it to the range next week.

Id check how well your cocking tube is aligned, with the upper. I know it did rub on the receiver if it wasn't fully seated making it harder to ####.

A few light love taps on the front of the gas tube with a hammer fixed it for me. (Put a cloth over top to prevent damaging any thing)

Yeah I used a rubber hammer to tap the cocking tube housing in and out. Never had issues with cocking.

I did exactly that, with the hammer. Everything seems aligned well, but that damn cocking tube spring makes way more noise when being compressed (sounds similar to charging an M14 platform rifle). I thought I had it backwards, so I removed it and reinstalled it the other way - still noisy.

Finally! lol

I think I'll keep my shaved grip instead of the one from the kit... looks better imo.

Those with Dlask 9" barrels, can you check the chamber for me? Mine runs like dog #### and this is why.

My completed 1 of 3.
The biggest difference is this is the stock GSG5p barrel from the US. Came with the flash hider that screws into the 5 or 522 cocking tube. Promag makes a trilug adaptor for it that looks pretty cool. Threaded for 1/2 28 under its cap or use the lugs for your suppressor. Sadly we can only put flash hiders and comps on ours.

****Big thanks to Tharkhold, DropTheBomb and OkayShooter for inspiring my creation by their 3D printers, advice and amazing looking GSG16's they created. Now I'm sick, just like you guys. Lol!

Hey guys I just bought a src fixed mp5 stock from a store and the thing wobbles like crazy. I dremel’d in two spots so it could mate to the reciever. I put in the anti walk pin and it just wobbles vertically. I’m pretty disappointed. Looking at it now, the ribbing along the inside of the stock is a lot thinner then the track that the retractable stock arms slide through. My question to you guys is, do all of your fixed stocks wobble, and if not what is the brand? And did you have to do a tiny bit of dremel work for it to fit. Thanks for your time

GSG 5/522 thread adapter. I don't think this works on Dlask barrels, but as they are threaded there are other options.
If we were able to get suppressor type things here, the trilug works on this. We can always dream. Lol!

Ok, HELP! Lol!
Does anyone know the actual thread count on the gsg5's cocking tube? I've searched it on Google and have read 3 different sizes. I have an idea I want to make, but the US sites suck for proper info. I figure my people here may know better. Also, who is Gnutzguy on YouTube? He threaded his suppressor to the the right thread. He would know. I hope.

Hey,
I've noticed on YouTube there has been similar issues and there is a couple different videos how to remove the wiggle. Lol! I'll have to find them again, mostly because my next build will have the same stock. If I can find one. Lol!

Probably a n00b question but where are you guys finding the 552 kit?
That's the trick. You have to find them for sale on the EE forum, when they become available. I have a feeling some will be coming up soon. IRUNGUNS had a sale that included the Conversion kit with the rifle. Not everyone will be brave enough to install it. I'm betting on it.

The kit is ridiculously easy to install though...
