The gun demons made me buy a stevens

Thanks guys I will give it a go.my 700 sps compact has a 12 1/2 " LOP I find it to be a perfect fit.wasn't sure how to reinstall the butt plate but epoxy sounds like a good idea.thanks.

One thing to take note of is that if you use a limb saver it is thicker than the stock recoil pad so take a little more material off the stock to compensate for this.

Hello guys I went one better on the stock today i phone boyds and talk to a very informitive gentlemen .sold me a ross ft thumbhole in peper laminate.he was helpful in telling me than the stevens 200 has 2 varations one were the mag well is fasten to the action and one that the mag well sit free in the stock.if you have the rifle with the free sitting mag well there is a slight bit of inletting required for this action to sit in the stock . its a small bit removed at the rear of the mag well.I also phoned savage and ordered the longer action screws for the wood stock.I am hoping its going to make a nice rifle.also on the stock a bolck must be add in front of the free sitting magwell to secure it in place.

I have the stevens 200 in 223 and i was actually on the boyds site and decided to check if anyone here had gotten one. I found the the stockys stocks site has the 4.4 inch space stock for the newer stevens center feed. but what i cant swallow is that the same stock is 92 bucks at boyds and 200 on sale at stockys. the part that urks me is that i cant find the 4.4 inch stock on the boyds site. What did you order and what did u get? i have a friend in the states now so he will be bringing it up for me.

so what do we need to know.

can we order from boyds or does it have to come from stockys in order to get the right spacing?

if we us a single shot follower does it sill need adjusting ( free floating mag spring)

and how much did i cost u?

thanks

I ordered directly from Boyds the stock is $ 92,00 total cost shipped was $120.25 .I do expect to pay duty on it when it gets here.the action screws were $ 10.00 shipped from savage.the stevens 200 is built on a savage 110 (long action) or a 10 (short action) which these stocks are made for.

I realise that. its just that i was told that the new stevens centre feed short action has a 4.4 inch space between the mounting screws where as the old ones have a 4.25 inch spacing.

this is what i was told. if you look at the stockys website it seems to go into a little more detail.

The boyds stock is made to fit 2nd generation stevens 200s(stagarded feed mag) .the stevens 200 with the center feed mag is 3rd generation.which the stockys stocks are.the boyds stock can be made to fit with some work,by adding a block in front of the mag and a small bit of inletting at the rear of the mag.my rifle is a 270 win (long action)I don,t see a stock on the stockys site to fit a long action stevens 200.I will let you know how things go when the stock arrives.:)

man i wish the boyds site had the 3rd gen stocks. 92 bucks is a way better deal than 200 but such is life. I want to order a new stock but after emailing jerry at mystic precision i might try to customize mine first. could be fun. Anyway let us know how it pans out. nice looking stocks thats for sure.

I want to change the stock and start all the mods to but why when the gun is shooting as well as it does. I just mounted a Bushnell Banner 6-24 x 40, and I was at the range today and had a group just over an inch only because of a flyer. 4 shots were within half an inch, with one just outside. I was pissed at the flyer but I know it was me not the gun. I really wanna get a rest set up and see what this thing can do without so much room for human error.
