I'm sure this topic has been done to death before and I'm sure some will say Smith and Wesson doesn't need saving but I think they did (at least in terms of pistols) and I apologize if this topic is redundant.
I finally picked up the new S&W M&P in 9x19mm and shot it yesterday and it was great. I found it kicked very little, even compared to my slightly heavier CZ-SP-01 Phantom (polymer) with very little muzzle rise, even compared to the Glock 17, I think. I was able to get my sights right back on target with natural ease. The grip angle is alot more natural for me than that of the Glock, the controls are easy and well positioned and the magwell is slightly funelled, easing magazine reloading. Plus, the pistol is small and lightweight and doesn't look horrible like a Glock. You can also change the backstrap on the grips (I chose the small one), which is actually incredibly easy to change. One could shoot this gun with one's friend and constantly change the backstrap size depending on who's shooting, it's that easy. The gun comes with nice genuine Novak sights on it, although I'm not a huge fan of the white dots. I've only put 200 rounds through it, but so far, it's flawless. This gun is definetely NOT S&W Sigma mk.II.
