P7m8
When it comes down to practical use of a firearm we need to consider the reliability factor and how suitable the pistol is for the indidvidual end user.
The P7M8, in my opinion is much over-rated with regards to reliability. I've had mine for 7 years and we've had our issues( extractors getting airborne, 2x), kicking too hard(I have arthritis), getting too hot after 100 rounds to shoot.
On the other hand I like its compact configuration, its safety features and its inherent accuracy.
As far as German engineering goes, yeah, some of their stuff is OK, but not all of it. So, as you can see its a mixed bag. Somewhat like being married. Is there a man, or a woman alive, who can honestly say that life has been nothing but a bed of roses? Life is full of compromises, and impermance is a fact of life.
Would I buy the P7M8 again? ( I paid $500 for mine, in almost new condition), you bet I would. A while ago the local sheriff and I exchanged our firearms. He was surprised at the accuracy of the P7M8,
and I was dismayed at the terrible double -action pull of his S&W 9mm. I think I'll keep the H&K for a while longer.
I really prefer to shoot the Desert(Baby) Eagle to the H&K, especially when I want to shoot 300+ over the course of the afternoon(which of course I can't do with the H&K[I don't like blisters on my trigger finger. You also need to be aware that the P7M8 was designed for the (then) West German Police, and they would hardly shoot 50+ rounds at a time in the normal pursuit of their duties]. The Desert Eagle is a lot less painful for me and besides I can shoot cheaper lead bullets.
Just one man's opinion.
