So in the spirit of bubba and all his children I have added to the m44 project. I ordered one of the Huber Concepts adjestable ball triggers. http://www.huberconcepts.com/
There are 4 options I just picked up the teflon match trigger as it was the cheepest and I didn't think I really needed stainless as the rest of the rifle isn't.
So here is the one I got in the mail.
One thing I noticed is that you will need to relieve the trigger slot in the stock as the new trigger is beefier and will not allow the action to fit after it is installed. For you guys who wouldn't dare taking the knife to your milserp you may have to get a beater stock for shooting with this trigger (not hard to find).
Here are some pics of what I did with needle files on the ati stock.
Before.
After
As you can see minimal material needs to be removed and maybe none on the wood stock I can't say.
Install of the trigger itself is very easy if you have ever cleaned your mosin you will immediatly notice how loose the trigger retaining pin is.
Here is a pic of the old trigger set against the new intsalled Huber one.
You can see in the pic that the new one has more material then the old one and that is where the need to relieve some material in the stock comes in.
Dealing with Huber was about the best experiance I have ever had as far as gun parts goes. The price on their site is the price you pay. No extra charges for international shipping or customs, they take care of all of that.
I love how adjustable this thing is. I was able to set it to what I am guessing is less then a pound without any problems of accidental release. It is really light, unbelievable when compaired to the old factory one. There is zero creep or slop. So far it is IMHO the best modification I have done to this rifle.
Difficulty level on a scale of 1-5 of this mod would be a 1.5 and only because you have to relieve the stock which takes a bit of time without a dremel. I can't wait till tommorrow when I get to take it to the range.
