A ranch hand in the Cariboo bet the rancher he couldn't hit a groundhog with a 22 and backed it up that if he killed it he would eat it.
Apparently it wasn't that bad but he wouldn't make that bet again.
Another friend on Vancouver Island stopped at a back woods residence while timber cruising west of Parksville.
He was invited to lunch and after was asked to guess what he ate. Deer? No. Bear? No. Gave up and was told "Wild Dog".
Everything might depend on how hungry you are. That said we will all eagerly await your first (last) impression with your recipe.

I ended up coming across a meat eater video and Steve had cooked one up to give it a try apparently it tastes like over cooked duck lol. Oh well if it's so bad could 're use the meat to bait with.
I have many rifles of all values and barrel weights, but for Coyote in Southern Ontario, I reach for my Remington 783 compact (20 inch factory barrel) sitting in a full length stock in .243. Wearing a Redfield 4-12x with the accuplex recticle I’m good to 300 yards. I bought the rifle, scope, rings and bases all off folks on this site and have $500 total in the package. If it gets a nick or ding coming out of the house or truck I don’t care. It’s a sub MOA rifle.

My project Rem 783 in 243.. winter project to see how "bad" this rifle might be.
Did this.. having fun with one of the CGN challenges. Solved the vertical issue... use a lighter bullet as the twist doesn't support high BC 90gr bullets. I have helped 2 local shooters with the same rifle. Fed them Hrn 87gr Vmax and they are itty bitty groupings at 200yds.
The project lead to this...
which can do this at 200yds even with a #4 contour McGowen sporter barrel... I love the 6.5 Creedmoor.

I bought one for my 14yo son last year in .243 and took his first deer with it and a few coyotes since then.Its a sweet lil shooter and a dream to carry,I like it so much I'm looking for an excuse to buy myself one actually...maybe in .204R?

In Essex county I think a 223 or 204 would be a bit better choice. Chatham Kent would better allow for a 243. Just my opinion.
U dont go down that far, so I dont know the regs for caliber.
Im all over the map in SWO from Chatham, up to port dover, over to Brantford and even up to grand bend.
243 was my go to this winter. Have also used 223... Buddy used his 270 on one. I even rocked one with my 6.5 Creedmoor.
They all did the trick. I will be picking up a 22-250 before next season. It will be the new go to...
It will be ANOTHER weatherby vanguard 2.
I have never had one shoot bad.

Nice choice. I used to have a 22-250. It didn’t shoot that well so I sold it. I want to get another one one day to play around with.
