What the hell is with the price of these things? Its highway robbery. $5+ a shot, I have no idea how anyone can afford to use them, and shoot them enough to understand the gun. I have boxes and boxes of 20g Remington Copper Solid sabots that we bought for $3.99+ tax about 15 years ago. Now that very same box is worth 6x that amount. What causes a 600% increase in price in just 15 years?

Its called inflation.
How much did a Liter of Gasoline cost 15 years ago?

Yeah the price of them sucks, mine likes Hornady sst FTX or the FTX lites. $13.95 and $18.95 a box locally, I need to do a search online and see if I can find a sale or better price and order a bunch in bulk.

Seeing that I am paying $3 a shot for a saboted muzzle loader bullet(Double sabot, 357 lead bullet) I would say they are relative. Can I shoot cheaper yep, but they don't shoot as good so pay to play is what I figure

Ive ditched saboted slugs long ago in favor of full bore slugs designed for rifle barrels like brenneke gold 600gr and rio star and challenger buck hammers. Slightly slower but more cross section and with the rio stars i get 10 for $14. Challengers are around $19 for 10. Brenneke golds are expensive but i care enough to send the very best

Lead prices jumped and as with most things the retail prices stayed up when the commodity prices dropped again. Cannon balls went from $8.95 to 38.95 overnight it seemed.

Federal blue box has a reasonable priced sabot slug $10-$12 a box. Got a new rifled slug gun a couple months ago and it was one of the slugs I tried. At least its only $2 a shot compared to 4 or 5. No different than some of the turkey loads out there. One shop I was in was selling federal 3rd degree turkey shells for $35 a box but not for the usual 10, only came in boxes of 5. He has a mountain of them there and told me he thought they would go like hotcakes. But at $7 a shot for a turkey, he priced them right out of the running for me.
