The IPSC Six pack

Someone let me the world 2005 videos to watch this weeked. (Thanks G ) and one of the most interesting aspects of the video, was what I call the IPSC "six pack".

While I wouldn't call a lot of the shooter "fat", they do tend to share a common build.. (of which I've been working on mine for a while, so I fit right in)

anyone else notice this trend??

Back in 1999 when I started IPSC someone lent me a copy of the USPSA magazines..

I was thumbing through them with my then 9 year old daughter.

After a while she looked at me and aske..

"daddy, if you are going to shoot this game....do you have to get fat too?"

They are deliberately lowering their centers of gravity for greater stability. That's what I tell my significant other....a distance runner in fantastic condition....whenever she comments on the typical shooter's profile.

the shape of the lower abdomen is shaped to allow little wind resistance.......it's science! so when i run I think,...did I drink my beers and eat my donairs.....have I excercised little enough so I didn't lose weight...?

well it also allows for more mags on your belts and also allows your mags to tip out more and still be within two inches of the body!

I find my belly pushes the mags further out for easier reloads.

Is Rob Leatham the heaviest man to win a US Nationals? Build-wise, Taran Butler would probably be considered heavier, but I don't think he's won a US Nationals.
