The JR Carbine Thread

check out this cool 15" m-lok handguard I got from TNA. Super easy install with 1 of their fat shims and one out of the supplied pack. Thinking I should throw a muzzle brake on too?

For look yeah totally ;) Function wise it doesn't seem to do jack for a 18.5" barrel with 9mm. I have 9mm Stinger on it but the main usage is to prevent the takedown handguard drop out of the barrel LOL. I would suggest a reverse fake-suppressor. I think TNA has some available.

Any idea where to get any closer to home? The shipping from the JR site is nearly the price of the break itself. :$

Sorry if this has been asked before I tried searching. Trying to find a post showing the different gens and the changes that have been made. I used to own a JR when they first came out. I now have the opportunity to grab one that was purchased in 2018 with the keymod rail. Just curious what if any improvements or changes have been made since the first gen.

When I was at Shot Show a couple years ago I was under the impression that all future models would come with the quick buffer tube removal upgrade. Doesn't seem so from looking online you still need to buy separately?

Thanks!

Picked up latest version of the JR with keymod. Love it.
Anyone figured how to fix the mag release for competition in PCC. Wrong side for me. Any after market fix?

Tru North Arms. I believe this where i got my A2 for my 40 jr. Put barrel in lathe and used the 5/8- 24 thread. As for the wrench, i bought through Aliexpress. About $20 ?? Yes it's takes awhile to get but it worked for the one time i needed it.

Here's my JR so far..

New 17" M-Lok handguard from magdump.ca if I remember correctly.
New Magpul handstop and pistol grip.
Bushnell red dot that I'm actually extremely impressed with so far.
Canted magpul pro flip up iron sites.
Feeling much better now than stock and looks 100% better.

Up next is a new butt stock and a nice ambi safety. (maybe radian arms?)
In the future I'm hoping to put a high end trigger. (maybe geissele?)

Hope you guys dig it!

Would you be able to post a pic with the canted sights flipped out? I'm curious to see what they look like.

PS - I dig it.

So I upgraded the trigger to TriggerTech and what a difference. Since I want to shoot PCC, how can I reduce the weight overall?

Anybody done a retrofit with the gen3 quick release buffer tube? I'm looking at buying a JRC but have heard the bad+ugly about field stripping / disassembly.

I have a quick release buffer tube -- makes stripping much easier and faster, plus you can make it shorter for transport if that's something you're in to.

I have a digital desert takedown that I've put a quad rail on the barrel to allow me to put a front sight, sling swivel, tac light and magpul grip. It's a .40, but I also have the .45 conversion kit for it. I've never had a misfeed or any other problem and it's accurate. So what if they are tough to clean. Everything else about them is pretty much spot on so one negative thing or two isn't worth talking about. Few firearms are perfect. You can always find a fault or two. You pick the faults you can live with and try to solve them or work through them the best you can. It's what we do.

I've been having a bit of issues with mine the last outing. created a post on the forum about it. nothing but FTF. squeese the trigger and it goes click, you can hear and feel the hammer release and move forward but still no fire. no primer strikes on the round. ( talking about 40/50 rounds that didn't fire). I changed the firing pin spring aorund and going to hopefully go try it out at the range again this weekend hope that sorts it out

My brother-in-law had this problem with his.
Emailed JR and they sent him a new firing pin free of charge. Every click is a bang now ;)
