The JR Carbine Thread

read all currently 77 pages. In all of that i have found only one other instance of my same issue. I got a JR Carbine 45 mid Nov 2020. Barely got into the 2nd box of 50 factory ammo (Win white box).
The bolt has snapped into two pieces. I am assuming it is a gen3? But possibly gen 2 as it has stamped on bolt "Gen II"

JR Carbine support was great. I am to send it to the Canadian warranty repair folks (Ellwood Epps). Hopefully my issue was a fluke and i have have a reliable rifle like so many here in this thread seem to have. Loved it while it was working. It has a Sparc II red dot. Was dead on left/right but was shooting low. Now dead on accurate.

Just ordered one Not too fond of the short handrail it comes with. What do I need to look for, when ordering a new handrail so the new one fastenens right up easily
Thanks

Barrel Spacers were required back when I did mine. True North Arms had a pack of spacers for dirt cheep.
Otherwise it was pretty straight forward to swap.

I'd recommend this.

Did it with a similar 17 inch handguard on mine.
Shims might be needed....I just used some washers from home depot. Found some .750 id ones that fit perfectly. They crush a little or can be easily sanded for desired thickness. Under a dollar as opposed to 3 or 4 dollars for shims. Have worked flawlessly for me.

Hey boys! Joining up to this game late! Just got myself a gen 1 .45. Seems to work well so far. First things first. This quad rail handguard has got to go. For the life of me, i cant get the lock ring off! Anyhow....when i do get it off, time for new handguard. My question...anyone try to put the stock hg off of wk180c on there? I happen to have one and think itll look pretty sharp. I know it fastens to barrel nut using tapped holes in the nut, anyone ever done this?

If you know anyone with a lathe it easy to do. I have done a few barrel threading on my own stuff and really quite easy. If you don't want to just take it down to diameter and don't want to thread, taps/dies are available online.

I haven't used a WK hand guard, but I did install one that is similar. You will need nearly 1/8" of shims to get the barrel tight. You will also likely need additional shims to get the screw holes lined up so that the top rail lines up with the top of the receiver. You could try a strap wrench on your existing handguard. I hated the quad rail too.

Edit; I meant to add that you will need the barrel nut off the WK as well.

The jr tool wouldn’t budge my cheese grater
I used a large flat screwdriver wrapped in tape and a rubber mallet.

Now. Who can help me get an A2 stock and handguard fitted to this beast

Lol

If ur handguard requires shims to index properly... True North Arms carries a wide selection of the shims including a very thick one to take up the 1/8" (roughly) of slack previously mentioned.

TNA is great to deal with. I got my hand guard and my shims from them, as well as other parts and tools. Fast and cheap shipping, they are always the first place I look when I need something.
