The Ranger Enfields are to be rebarreled to .308 by Colt Canada for civilian sale according to the local Ranger instructing Warrant officer. Rumors.
....
Look at the thousands of Stg44 rifles that were found in storage in Syria. There was also a mountain of ammunition for them. Maybe not very dependable ammo but most of it still goes bang. The US jumped on those pretty fast. I wonder what happened to them????

The Iranian's could still have a lot of the International Harvesters
M1 Garand rifles. They received almost all of them
Potentially a smaller lot but the Canadian Rangers Lee-Enfields?
Shhhhhhh......Trudeau may not even know about it!!!
A lot of them are going to Colt Canada alright...for deactivation. A museum I am associated with contacted DHH asking for rifles, and we are on the list for a dozen. They will be fine for display in some of the vehicles within the museum, but it would also be nice to get some live rifles for display. After all, we were always told that we civilians didn't need to own firearms as there would be examples preserved in museums. I do not consider deactivated as preserved. Neither does the CF museum manual.
Another dimension is that countries can get brownie points from the UN by cutting up obsolete weaponry that they weren't going to use anyway.

Yes, and an interesting thing happens with eastern block countries,,, sometimes, they are cut up and smelted but magically wind up in an arms market in another country, reborn! I am ok with that as some wind up here at very good prices with lots of history ( some history we will likely never know about!).Another dimension is that countries can get brownie points from the UN by cutting up obsolete weaponry that they weren't going to use anyway.
The sks is creeping up in value, same with mosins, but if i was looking for my first gun i would still buy them, they are great value and long term keepers. A lot of cheap modern guns are just cheap modern guns.

And here I was thinking that countries regarded the United Nations like Mr. Burns regarded "the Germans"...![]()
Still a fraction of the cost, and a better gun in practically every way, than a Mini-30. There's a LOT of value in an SKS.
Couldn't agree more . I think , in the not too distant future , a lot of people will come to realize how good a firearm the SKS is . Probably one of the most under valued rifles on the Canadian market .
