Sorry if this a repost, but it's a decent video about a cartridge that's constantly over looked. I know quite a few here use it, but am still surprise that it isn't more recognized for it's versatility?

Thanks for the link!
I like watching GunBlue490's stuff, I will check this out later.

I remember calling one of local suppliers a few years back to ask if they had any 35 Whelen ammo in stock and after a few monuments of silence he responded "Is that even a cartridge?", lol :)

I picked up an inexpensive H&R single-shot Handi Rifle chambered in 35 Whelen a few years back and I have grown rather fond of the little rifle and was happy to harvest another nice buck with it last fall. It has become one of those rifles that I don't think I will ever part with.

I have hunted with several Whelen rifles, love the cartridge. My favorite was a Ruger No.1-A with really nice wood... I keep kicking myself for selling it.

Great cartridge. In the process of building one now on a 700. Tried getting my hands on an older gun as I have no problem with used or marks, but most guys think it is now a collector's item and have the price jacked to an equivalent of a custom build.

:agree: I use the 9.3x57 myself though as it be all the power I need. ;)

It is sorta like the Plain Sister isn't it? I've a nice one in a 98...it fits my hunting style marvellously. Hit's like a freight train....annnd should you miss...it's in the dirt at about 250 -300 yards. Either gets it done with aplomb...or gravity neuters it STAT.
If a 35 Whelan is like that... I still don't need one. Already got a 9.3 x 57. But I approve of the basic concept wholeheartedly.

6 or 7 Whelen’s have passed through my hands now and I have nothing bad to say about them, great round.

Still have my 700CDL for now.

Yeah, but you still have your Rem 7600 don't you? Hard to beat. I did the same thing to mine that you did to yours, bobbed it to a 20" barrel, mounted a low power scope and Bingo! A carbine rifle good for all that walks in N. America.

Nope... no 7600 here.

A decent cartridge that I have owned, but gave up when I acquired a nicer rifle in 9.3X62, as the two were essentially equivalent. A "meium" that will never be very popular as there are much better choices for what most people hunt (e.g deer), and better choices for the real big stuff.
