Just received this 1950 parked LB No 4 Mk I*. It took me a while
to warm to the LB greenish parkerized finish but I'm there now...I
just opened the box a few minutes ago to reveal this very nice rifle
I got in a trade with Head Damage. My 44 LB is also parked, but it's
not as dark a green. The different finish really shows when you look
at the contrast with the blued mag. Without seeing the contrast it's
not that easy to tell it's parked.

There was one of these at Wolverine. Parked, and still had the tag on it from LongBranch. (It was the same tag as on my unissued Cno7). Funny thing was that the metal was mint condition, parked, but the wood and bands were all Savage, and not nearly as minty.

Could somebody who has one of those Long Branch tags scan it and post it? That'd be cool to see.
Is that rifle still at Wolverine? Or in the past? If so how much was it? (not that I need another one)

It was on his rack last year. When I was there a couple months ago it was gone. He didn't have a price tag on it. Some of his inventory stays in the back room so best to contact him to see if it still is there.

LB tags

Here are photos of the tags on my consecutive, unissued set of 1950 No 4 Mk I* LB rifles. Obviously there is a portion that has been removed from the bottom of the tags, and I don't know what it would be. The tags were on the sling swivels when I bought them and I haven't moved them since.

What s/n range are they in? Lee Enfield has that thread about 1950 LB's and when they started parking them.

As far as I know the 1950 rifles never had them-certainly I've never seen one with grooves.

I recently asked the same question on Milsurp.com and the answer was any wartime LB rifle could either have the grooves or not have them...depended on what was in the pile at the time apparently. Personally I like the grooves very much and it's easy enough to change...

So when did they start parkerizing LBs.

I'm assembling a 43 from parts and have the capabilty to park it.

If they did not park back then, them I'm going to blue it.
 
Parkerising DEFINITELY did not start until post-war. Lots of wartime LB's are parked because LB didn;t mark its FTR's and those rifles were refurbished post-war.

Some debate is ongoing whether parkerizing started as early as the 93L series or as late as the 95L series with most evidence pointing towards the 93L series. Check out the survey on MSC for more info.

As you heard you will see 43's around that are parked as LB did it to any rifle they FTR'd probably after 1950ish.

I have a 42 with a rough finish that I also wouldn't mind parking...I was told that if you powder blast it and blue it it will come to the kind of light grey colour that Long Branches had originally. Your call.

Whatever will look great!
