THE "LTR" thread

I dont know if you hunt, but i had a 700P, and I'd stay away from a 26in pipe if i were you. Stick to something like 22in.If you only do target shooting, then have fun.

$$$ will dictate those..I've hunted with the LTR & is the maximum I would go for in weight/length ratio..My buddies successfuly hunted with a 24'' 10FP.

The LTR will be for target only & hopefully fitted with a Gaillard 28'' pipe & a McMillan A4 orA5 stocks..so it won't be an LTR but rather HTR

These should be all done by the end of this summer.

Mine is coming from the same secret gun guy, I can't wait, damb the US Marines for aming me wait for my new stock, how dare them! Oh and Rohann, no you can't come in, this is for LTR guys only. Send your 700P back to the secret gun guy and get and LTR, and maybe we will consider you in if you have him cut the barrel down to 20", but we LTR owners will have to discuss it. By the way, were are the pics of that thing all kitted up, promises and more promises, but no action, man you sound like a Liberal! Get them pics out!

my main goal is to get a 154gr Scenar moving aroung 2800FPS the powder need to be fast,I will try Varget this week and RL15,I know that IMR 4895 can do it,but I like how stable Varget is for High and Low Temp's

Ok I want in! What is the threshold for barrel length to be in the LTR club? Do I have to challenge you guys to a punch up like on "Fight Club" to earn my wings. Maybe something like walk up to one of the Palma guys and tell him his rig sucks and I can shoot better than him with my eyes closed?

hey boys, any truth to the rumor the 308 LTR was specifically designed for the 168g SMK and the harmonics it produces
has any body compared other bullets in this rifle?

mine seems to like the 155gr Scenar!!and it did good with the 175SMK

Para P-12,

That is nice looking, I take it the "secret" gunsmith is HWSNBN? I wish this McMillan stock would get here, I am going nuts waiting for this rig. Still trying to decide on the scope, I have narrowed it down to two, this was based both on budget, as I went over the rifle portion with the addition of the McMillan stock, and all the good things I have heard about my 2 choices. Mueller TAC II or the Bushnell 3200 10X tactical. Help me out here guys, I like both of them.

I would go with the Bushnell,if it goes tits up you can get it fixed(In Toronto)
I was thinking I would change my stock...but I reall like this gun as is,is lite short easy to carry no sharp edges, just High Speed Low Drag, fun awesome shooting gun!!

I made up my mind today my LTR will wear a NightForce 3.5/15x50 NP-R2,and I think I may add a Detachable mag system too,Badger or V-bull

Oh yea, forgot to mention, If you are using a bipod (especially versapod) keep an eye on your forend swivel stud, the threading on the stock tends to give too much room for the stud inside the stock making the stud prone to bending and breaking under recoil.

I had this problem with my LTR and had to have a stronger one machined by a smith. I thought it may have been a problem only I had, but after examining a different HSP stock that my uncle recieved, it also had a bent swivel stud in the forend from shooting with a bipod.

Any other LTR or HSP stock users experienced this as well ???
