The M1941 Johnson Thread

I don't know if I can fit them all, but if we had enough people going, I could bring nine SVT-40's and we could line everyone up and all fire at once and take some nice pics. I think I only have three or four guys going though

Will have to check with the GF if we have plans if its the evening. I could pack an SVT40, PU sniper, G43, K89k, M1 carbine and a Garand. (but I don't have any suitable .30-06 at the moment) I do have a boatload of 7.62x54R and 7.92x57

Problem is with the corrosive ammo I'll be cleaning until sunrise LOL. Except the M1 carbine, I understand the ammo was always made non-corrosive.

Be careful. There is some corrosive out there. I believe Dominican, but not positive.

I might be there earlier - I'll know for sure by late tomorrow. If my friends get schedualed to work the afternoon shift, they won't be able to make it but I'll still be there for sure, just earlier in the day rather then later

Sure did - were you there? I was in the back corner sitting with my wife and kids for the first hour and then by myself for the next five

Yup... near the front... long hair and tattoos.... kinda stood out a bit...lol... Got the westinghouse mosin, and one of the swede mausers... better prices this time than the last one... good score on the Johnson...

I think I did see you a couple times there. I was the short guy in the black Punisher T shirt, going out for a smoke every half hour lol

There were a couple nice Mosins there. I wanted the 1939 dated one but after buying the two Polish M44's and the Johnson, I was broke

Not sure if I should be reviving this thread or making a new one given it's age but...
Posting one of my Johnson M1941's. This one was purchased from Great North Gun Co in rather rough shape and sent to Vulcan Gun for restoration. The stock was completely knackered (It looked like someone grafted a 2x4 into the stock) and I contacted Jesse at Prestigious Wood Stocks to make a new set of furniture who as far as I am aware is now the only manufacturer making new stocks from an actual rifle (https://www.prestigiouswoodstocks.com/collections/m1941-johnson-rifle/M1941).

After some waiting I got it back it back and aside from the wear to the receiver markings due to the sandblasting ( I was not expecting that much fading) it looks and shoots like a new rifle; blasts brass to the side like an SVT-40.

The only thing I will say is that the new barrel has this weird looking pitting in the lands which I find odd... I'm currently in contact with Nick to talk about it.

Bore.

Two groove barrel? Did Johnson's have two groove barrels? Or was a Springfield 03A3 barrel adapted as part of the refurbishment?

Interesting...

Nope, he specifically mentioned new Criterion 1917 Enfield barrel in his email. I'll have to do some more talking with them.

Regardless the rifle shoots well and the rest of the finish and especially the new walnut looks good.
