The man who sleeps in Hitlers bed

definitely, Stalin was always afraid of BR making a separate peace with the Nazis, and if true, this would be an example of one of the many reasons why Stalin was always considered so paranoid

His paranoia would have been more likely rooted in his own complete failure to anticipate the German attack on the Soviet Union, despite all the warnings given by his own and other intelligence agencies. It became very dangerous to the life of a Soviet intelligence officer to suggest what "The Boss" did not want to hear in 1939-41, so many kept their mouths shut. The British warned him, and his agents in Britain probably did also, but Stalin was sure it was all a "provocation" and that Hitler would not make the same mistake as the Germans had in WWI to fight on two fronts simultaneously. This is why he reportedly collapsed for almost a week after the German attack and made defeatist remarks to the Politburo: "all that Lenin created, we have lost!" Then it is said, when he realized the Germans had no intention of making allies of the Russian peoples, or even of freeing them, then he knew he was saved and pulled himself together again.

As for the British, it was a matter of survival in 1940-42 to have Hitler believe that he might reach some accommodation with Britain, as that was his openly declared desire. One should not forget that Hitler and Stalin had come to terms out of the blue in 1939, it was possible they could have done it again if Hitler changed his mind and decided to complete the conquest of the U.K. before returning to finish off the Soviet Union.

Even if that did not happen, based on their performance in the Winter War against Finland, many doubted the Soviets could hold out against the Wehrmacht. Few reckoned with Hitler's blunders in 1941 and 42, or the size of the Soviet reserves, or the way they would fight when invaded, rather than invading.

The Russians were the last seen to have possession of the Helen of Troy jeweled tiara.....the throne of satan is in Berlin taken from Pergamon in Turkey and reassembled ..I read somewhere the Soviets also took this and returned it during the early 50's......the occult was big with the Nazis...........Harold

Very intersting read. It does however beg one question that relates to the article somewhat and that is what will happen to Lemmy's collection now that he has passed?

I for one would not want to live in a house filled with creepy Nazi memorabilia, wax Hitler glaring at me as I eat my morning cereal before work.

I knew it hitler was ###!

His kids didn't think so.

I wonder of there's any proof of the contention that Hitler offered to withdraw from the German seized half of Poland, before he invaded France, in that collection. There were rumoured to be half a dozen attempts to avoid war during the phoney war period, all of which started with Hitler.

Considering the declared aim of destroying Bolshevism and creating "living space" in the east, that sounds extremely unlikely to me. Poland was the route east and the one thing the Germans and the Russians agreed on was at the very least the reduction of Poland to a truncated, land-locked puppet state. The Germans conducted very similar massacres of the Polish leadership class as the Soviets did, with the same objective. The Poles were to be given no more than primary education and used as agricultural serfs until their eventual extinction, as were the Slavs. “aryan” children were kidnapped for “adoption” by Germans. Those were the policies of the Reich.
