The McSwirly arrived today, so I had to clamp it on to see how it woudl look...

I will wait for Guntech to have some time, then get him to bed it. I hate bedding Rugers, and he will do a much better job than I will.:)

Nice stock, pretty much vaults the King into legendary status....with the 1.5-5 it looks like a bad ass grizz & hippo stomper. Dont switch to a 2.5-8x, for that reason alone.

Did I just read what I think I read?
Which part?

Those Rugers look alot like a M98. Nice sights on a short bbl all in stainless. Even I would say that's a nice looking rifle.

As far as the CT goes, it was built on the cheep and looks it. Works good, but kinda ugly.

.

Nice looking rifle. Which scope do you have on it?
I have a 1.75-5x32 LRS Burris Safari I was considering using if I get around to picking up a Ruger Alaskan .375.

It's a 1.5-5x20 Vari X III

I will probably swap it to a 2.5-8x36, to take advantage of this rifles accuracy and longer range potential, while still keeping the scope compact and keeping a low magnification setting available.

Looks sharp Gatehouse, but we all know that when it comes to beauty, my CT is the reigning champ:D

Joking aside, great looking rig, and probably the best setup I have seen for an "all-around" rig.

Looks good, 80/20 Lt tan/black?? I think a black/white/grey swirly would look cool on there too...

The rifle with that stock on it looks great but TB's comment...

I think I am going too throw up...

Boomer I agree and disagree I'm thinking a 2.5-8X with a Boone & Crockett reticle would be very good for reaching out with this cartridge...

It does need all the help it can get... :D

Big game is not difficult to see, after all it is big, so while I like the 2.5-8X on a full sized rifle, on a carbine length rifle I don't see it as an advantage. The advantage of the glass sight is that the target and aiming point are on the same focal plane, and magnification is a secondary concern which changes with circumstances.

Very nice Gate. You aren't really going to change the scope are you? That 1.5-5X is ideal.

Depends how I like the 2.5x8. I use that scope on 3 other rifles. I will certainly use the 2.5-8 for load development.

The nice thing about the 1.5 is that you pop the butt up to your shoulder and the target is THERE.

Nice thing about the 2.5-8 is a little extra definition at longer ranges. It was taking me a bit longer than I wanted to aquire a good sight picture of my 8" diameter gong at 350 yards with the 1.5-5.

5X is probably fine for 400 yard moose shooting, though. Nice thing about this rifle/cartridge combination is that it is equally at home taking a long shot in open terrain, or sneaking through the coastal jungles.

I've got both scopes in Ruger rings, so it's easy to swap them out for testing.

that looks good. Ruger should offer it as an option. They probably pay $25 for a hogue, if they bought McMillans in bulk they could probably sell Alaskans/Africans for $1300 or so, which i'd gladly pay.

My real question is, if I bought one, could I go sheep hunting in grizzly country?
