There have been lots of people that have already necked up and down the 375 Ruger brass...416 of course has been done...

Word on the street is that Ruger is going to release it fairly soon.

:)

just read about the wildcat in rifleshooter mag, said its pretty much identical performance to the 416 remington, just shorter case

Funny thing is that Jon Sundra named it the "416 JRS" After himself, of course...

Except it was done about 10 minutes after someone got 375 Ruger brass! And results posted on the intraweb!!:)

The Ruger will be a fair bit more powerfull. Brass will be easy once you've got dies.

Dies became available about a year ago!:dancingbanana:

I don't think the 416 Ruger will do anything the 416 Rem cannot do, though...:)

Although the beltless case WILL be far cooler, of course;)

Personally I suspect that it would be a very good match with a quality Husqvarna or Brno mauser action, particularly when paired with a good receiver sight.

And just think...you could clean it by running your cat up the bore, imagine the savings on patches.

..... which is exactly the same arguement for the 416 (and 375) Taylor.

How does the Ruger brass feed from a 98 action?

If they keep it in the Hawkeye it'll be fairly cool. I'll stick with my CRF Mod. 70 .416 Rem.
That's the thing, a light weight short action 375 may be ok for most shooters, but for any caliber bigger than that it may be too much of a good thing in not enough rifle.

I've never shot anything larger than a 375, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want a 416 in a lightweight gun.
