The model 94 returns

A 94 is a true beater gun. You buy one, keep it behind the seat of your truck and it does what needs to be done.

hardly seems like the 94 has returned....the 94 is still on my list of guns to get but not THAT 94 sorry but I want a gun I'm not gonna be afraid of leaning against a tree well I gut what I shoot...let alone take it out of the box.....and in to the bush.....some companies make to many Commemorative/Collector guns.

Scroll down and see that your money would be better spent on the 1886 at 1300.00 dollars. My Guess is that it will retain more of its value. I think the brains in the Winchester front office missed the mark on this one!!! WHos going to spend 1400.00 dollars on another commemerative the market has been saturated with Special edition Winchester 94's
An 86 is a special rifle, I have one. But it's not a '94. The 94 is as others have said a beater gun, an average joes rifle, a rifle that will handle punishment well, and one that is light as a feather, with no real recoil, that can still handle animals as big as moose if properly chambered. It's a perfect scabard gun, lays flat under your leg. Has enough ammo capacity that you don't need extra, and a host of other plus's.
The 86 is the 94's big brother, bigger, heavier, stronger, and available in bigger cartridges. But it's just not a '94.

Sorry guys,
I hate to throw water on your fire.
I owned a 94 Win. about 20 years ago. I found the trigger pull terrible for such a light gun. Very hard to control and therefore difficult to shoot accurate in field positions. Moreover the stock configuration is so bad that the gun bucks relatively hard for such a mild cartridge. I can see the nostalgia and history aspects and that is good enough reason to own one.
But a fine hunting rifle? Not in my books. There are one hell of a lot better guns out there to shoot a deer or other big game with.
