The Modern Hunter Rifle UPDATED December 10 2015

Answers simple if it goes restricted you have then put a deposit down on a awesomely accurate well built restricted firearm.

Now instead of worrying sit back and wait for the RCMP to finish their testing like the rest of us.

That answer is not simple for those of us that do not have a RPAL, and everyone that ordered solely for non-restricted use (ie: the hunting part of "modern Hunter").

With that being said, you are correct in suggesting to wait patiently; Cross bridges as they are reached.

I more than understand your concerns = I own a non-restricted Robinson Arms XCR-L with uppers in 223 and 6.8SPC.

I'm not a paper puncher other than to work up loads and check zero I use it exclusively for hunting coyotes/deer/bear.

I bought it due to it being non-restricted and would be choked if it was ever reclassified because it will instantly drop in value.

You guys that have jumped in with deposits have decided to take a leap of faith nothing you can do now but wait.

I just found out about this rifle so missed the buy in or I would have already jumped on board as well.

I think it might have been asked but not answered, and probably requires a direct answer from RCMP, but according to the new rules of not reclassifying a firearm more than a year after it's initial classification, will that be from the first FRT inspection of the prototype or from the time they answer on the production model any day now?

Regarding the frt / classification and the 1yr recall period, thats dependent on whether the finished gun gets the same frt # as the original. Logically to pass as the same gun it should get the same frt but I suspect it'll get a slightly different frt making it 1yr from the new frt.

I'm all for patience where frt examination is concerned.
IMHO worst case , Rick may make any change if required then resubmit. Far to early in the process to be overly concerned

Not to detract from this thread, but I am of the opinion that FRT reviews should be required to be done in 30 business days!

These things taking YEARS is ridiculous & ABUSIVE!

Totally agree. Taking 2 years and tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars to go thru and try every possible way to make these guns restricted or prohib is rediculas. If you can't figure it out in 30-60 days it can be done and it's non-restricted

Post 200 by Rick shows that he's offered refunds to those who want it if the gun is reclassified. If you decide to take the refund or keep the restricted version will be up to you by I'm sure he plans to fight to keep this nr.

I think Rick said it's been 3 years since he began the process. I suspect the frustrating part is the final version is identical to the first version already approved so this should now just be a fast comparison and approval.

It certainly feels like an abuse of power to continue to delay on the final FRT # given it was already reviewed and given an frt #

Very interesting rifle. I guess its has to look allot like an AR platform to use all the after market stuff that is part of its allure.
But it must cause the mounties allot of grief that you need to be an expert to know its not an AR10 clone when you see one in the field. I do not know if the component delivered for the original assessment showed how AR10ish this thing looks complete.
Hope it works out all right for everyone, would love to have one of those.

Just because it looks the part doesn't mean that's what it is.
Upper and lower are not even similar to an ar10. Yes from an untrained eye they look similar, but my ruger Sr22 looks similar as well. I hope the news comes soon, but if I need to wait longer to ensure it gets the NR status it deserves, then so be it. I'll be happy if I have it in time for a quick sight in before hunting starts.

Seems my post stirred things up a bit, my apologies. I hope that if this doesn't stay NR that those looking for refunds would spend it on other gear from atrs and support them thru what would be a big hit to the bottom line.
I eagerly await news as the cash for a .338fed modern hunter is burning a hole in my pocket

The moment they get the final NR status, I'm guessing they get flooded with orders from the guys on the fence waiting to hear the news. These may be the hottest thing on the market for a while. I can see the WTB ads coming very soon.

If anybody is so concerned about the status change and their deposit, let me know. I am willing to take the risk and get a position on a modern hunter in the first run. NR or otherwise. ATRS is a quality company and I want one of these rifles.
