The most efficient hunting cartridges

I took the pressure point out of the front of the Model 700 ADL 6.5x55. Developed a load with 120 Nosler BT with H4350, 3050 fps. Shot good at 100 yards this morning. Not bedded and probably won’t be.

Good enough for me!

In terms of amount of powder vs energy delivered at target distance any small game out to 25 yards calls for the 22 long rifle. For sheep out to 600 yards, perhaps a 7mm STW or similar. There appears to be a few choices of targets between those two extremes, which would allow for a lesser cartridge to wear the crown. I read the OP's post as the most efficient, and had to fill in the missing parameters...

What a sweet rifle. I have 6 700’s 2 factory and 4 customs one in 6.5x55 with benchmark bbl My original adl and bdl are pretty vanilla chambering’s .270&.308. I’d love an original like in a 6.5x55. My custom also likes 120 NBT and H4350.

This seems like a pretty objective take on bang for buck. I would use this in context of penetration results but that's really bullet specific. So say a 165 grain Nosler Partition out of the .308 might be ideal for someone like me, or a 200 grain NP out of the .30-06.

Was the .375 H&H mentioned, and is it the same as the .375 Ruger?
