Folks:

I bought the Shotgun News treasury yesterday, and there amongst the painfully dry David Fortier pieces on the Waffen SS Assault Spoon and the heartbreaking ammo ads (5000 30.06 in plingers for damn near nothing) was an interesting article on the MP44.

One of the pictures shows the MP44 with the gas plug unscrewed. The back end of the plug is a pretty straightforward piece, but I've always wondered why the front end of the MP44 plug has that weird lil' stinger on it. There's two inches of "prong" out there, with a little protective ball on the end.

So why is it there? Anyone offer any insight?

Yours in Curiosity,

Dan

It is for stacking rifles. You slide one "prong" through the hole in the other rifles gas plug, and continue to do this untill you don't want to stack anymore.
