I just bought a P-1907 bayonet from an ebay seller in Canada. I'm in the states.

She shipped the item promptly, only to have it returned to her by the carrier. Here is an excerpt from the email she sent me.

"We have just been informed that neither Purolator, UPS nor Fedex will carry this item into the US, therefore it is being returned to us today, as they are stating not accepting firearms, although US Customs stated they have no issue with it going thru their borders."

WTF

Sorry to hear this. What an unfortunate situation. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I am very careful to observe all Canada/U.S import/export restrictions. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't ship a bayonet, it is just a special knife. I am NOT aware of any export/import restrictions of bayonets. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Someone must have labeled the package so it appeared to have firearm related merchandise. Hope you manage to get it sorted out.

Probably had something to do with the description.

I just sent an SVT-40 bayonet down to a friend in Texas, and I labeled the package "Knife", and stated the country of origin as "Russia". It was held up for about 1 week at customs, but they eventually let it through, the BATF was probably feverishly trying to make the bayonet go full auto...

Just tell her to change the description, package it in a proper box, and Mail it CanadaPost Xpresspost, (which will in turn go USPS when it hits the border). I find all of the "other" couriers are complete a**holes when the item has anything to do with militaria/hunting/guns, etc... even if it is legal to ship. BTW, NEVER use Greyhound!

Hope you get your bayo!

Cheers! :)

Agree. DO NOT ship by UPS, purolater, or FEDEX from Canada. Use the regular mail.
After one bad experience with UPS on a Long Lee (antique) I had subsequent rifles sent by airmail.

if SAY ITS A rifle AND is antique(MADE 1870S,) its kosher to send to USA VIA MAIL
( OF COURSE PROPER PAPERWORK ECT OR WHATS EXACTLY NEEDED ?)
NEED to know ...............or were are reg /rules found ?

Remember this folks...

Purolator, UPS nor Fedex "ARE ANTI GUN TO AND FROM CANADA" Don't support them with "ANY" buiness. Always ship via US Postal service (USPS) or Canada Post.
