If it was that easy, everybody would be doing it. Just ask Robarm, the maker of the XCR, how easy that is to do.

I have no doubt NEA could come up with a 100% new firearm. But that takes a heck of a lot of time.

The AR platform is battle proven. Buy one an enjoy it.

Who knows what else NEA will give us in the future. Lets support them and find out. :D

there is a huge market for NR black rifles is canada...i will be getting a NEA AR after some reviews here, but i shoot mostly in the bush, and the guberment does not trust me to take an AR in the bush....
 
How many is a "huge market"?

Assuming a all-new, non-res design sells for XCR/Tavor money, how many would really sell in Canada in a year? 200? Maybe 500? Though I think the second number is very optimistic. Also, keep in mind that Canada would pretty much be the sole market for this new gun. If it used AR mags, it wouldn't even be importable to the US as a rifle.
 
I can't see NEA not attempting to design a new firearm. I keep kissing their ass, but it seems like ARs and vz58 parts are just them getting their feet wet.

Can canadian made ARs be imported to the states???
lets say NEA released their new AR at 1000 dollars and an XCR type NR blackrifle at $1500-1800 at the same time, i would bet they sell more of the NR rifle than the AR...

Like i said before i was just throwing it out there for fun, the best thing would be for the laws to change so i can take an AR variant in the bush and hunt with it....:rockOn:

They may be importable as pistols, but not as rifles. No double stack "hi-capacity" rifles are allowed as they have no "sporting purpose". All AK and VZ rifles imported come in with single stack mag wells and are modified in the US with additional US parts to be compliant.

The exception is pistols, which is why the Draco AK pistols importable as a double stack, for example.

You may be right, within the bounds of your price estimate. But it's pretty low-ball figure for an all-new, low production rifle.

Look at the prices Dlask and ATR have been charging for low-volume AR's and tell me how NEA could possibly do an all new rifle for the same or less as these manufacturers charge for ARs.

I bet NEA sells a pile of them into Europe. Especially as with zero US content there's no ITAR issues. AR's are quite expensive in Europe and there are a lot of countries where civi's can own them.
 
No need to re-invent the wheel, I'm sure NEA is capable of producing an AR-180B type firearm with a real lower. Given the interchangeability of barrels (blanks), mags and stocks, FCG's etc., the rest shouldn't be too difficult. For some reason, I'm still kind of stuck on the AR180B.
 
Summer is terribly busy and then I take a two month leave during harvest. Most of my designing and prototyping gets done in the winter.

Wheels are in motion, so hopefully something gets at least to the prototype or mock up stage by spring.
