The new 783 Varmint

They switched out the bolt knob on the heavy barrel models too. I think only the base model 783 (like my 7mag) come with the stupid shaped knob. I'll be cutting mine off and threading the stub one of these days...

I've also got one in 7mm rem mag...I can live with the bolt knob as the gun gave me .75 in groups @ 100 meters with the first load I tried with 140 TTSX's and RL 22.... I think I'll reward it with a Boyds laminate thumbhole stock!

Im also leaning towards a boyds for mine. I'm a bit worried that it'll be getting pretty heavy if I do that though, it's already 7lb6oz without a scope, ammo or a sling...

Savage uses 12. I think there's a 12 BR that's 9.
