Annie

Yo Chris,
...another nice Annie!
You can show them your targets after the shoot this week-end!!
Hang on it's going to be a fun ride at the comp. :dancingbanana:

I wonder if 'The Crow' is flying around? He'll be there. ;)

The more I see those Anschutz, the more I tend to move away from the idea that a Cooper is the answer.
I often read on rimfirecentral that the coopers won't shoot with the annies, any thoughts. By the way, I have been saving for a cooper but now I am not so sure.
They have the Annie 1712 at wholesale sports in Edmonton, silhouette model.

Anschutz Rules

When talking rimfire there is only one rifle that really does the job and her name is Annie. They are expensive and their worth it. Really nice rifle Chris I hope you attend this weekends events.

Annie Vs Cooper

Hi taffman,
I don't own a Cooper yet and don't know anyone personally who does either. Was thinking of one, but more along the lines of a centerfire. The Coopers look really nice on their website. They offer an accuracy warranty on their site. I think it is based on 5 shot groups at 50yds. Anschutz has theirs for 10 shot groups at 50m; and 3 shot groups for centerfire.
Yes, have read the threads on Rimfire Central. I can vouch for the Annies; love them. :) I like Kimber too; have a SVT fr. Oregon w. a 0.15 factory test target. :D I think their new test target guarantees .40" at 50 yds, but Kimber reps. would have to confirm. I believe the wait for a new one is 4 months now?
Good luck w. your decision and good shooting,

I agree with the comment that the Anschutz is one of the best rifles ever produced. However, there is one I like better. The winchester 52. IMO the best rimfire ever produced. More accurate then any other Anschutz I have come across yet :) :). Still gotta love them annies though.

I like the way that when you are on the bench (and using a single shot annie) you just pop the round somewhere in the loading port, close the smooth bolt, and pull one of, and probably the best factory trigger ever produced...

I'll be there just hoping I can get her tuned in time:rolleyes: , I heard the ice cubes are out and the lollipops are in sounds like it's gonna be a fun shoot....caw!, caw! I think I heard 'crow' just now....45 did you hear that......;)

In all seriousness I belong to a club with a real good bunch of guys and funny thing they all shoot the Annie's. I figured that I needed to join this fraternity and get myself a good shooter, so with alot of patience and persistence one came along I didn't think twice about it "MINE" I said..... With match barrels, amazing triggers, and all the goodies that these beauties come with most will outshoot anyone that picks them up....if the the shots aren't hitting their mark...it wasn't the gun's fault it was your's....we'll see what happens this weekend..and perhaps post some scores:D ...Chris

Hey .45 Auto, I have seen and handled a few Coopers mainly because our local gun store peddles them and he usually has a few in stock. There is a .17 LVT sittimg there right now for around $1600.00 canadian. Don't be in a hurry as wait times can be long if you order one in.
It is hard to pin him down on a firm price when ordering one as the dollar fluctuates.
S.I.R. in Winnipeg is peddling Kimbers now, they are carrying a couple of models now that I will inspect very closely for a long time on my next trip to the city. The hunter and the svt.
I have been shooting the mid priced .22's and am ready to take the next step. For the last few years I have been shooting the Browning A-bolt ,22 man what a stinker for accuracy and the Win. 52B reproduction gun that S.I.R was selling in the mid 90's. Not too bad, nice gun.

Taffman,
I've owned a few Browning A-Bolts and I couldn't agree with you more they are real stinkers...a very pretty rabbit gun but that's about it....I'd stay away from the repro Win 52, and stay focused on something made to shoot targets. An older 52 would be a good choice. I had a 52A a week ago(made in 1928) and another gunnut now has it and it would shoot one holers for a joke with Eley Rifle Target....but with a rounded forend stock it was a difficult shooter versus the flat forend of the most of the Annie's, Walthers, etc.....take your time, get something you'll loose sleep over dreaming about it every night.....

I have a M37 Remington downstairs that was owned by a very famous Canadian shooter
( Hall of famer) , and my father once told me that that particular rifle was VERY accurate, perhaps moreso than the Anschutz Super match, and Gerry Oullette
set a World record at melbourne in '56 shooting 600X600 60X prone with a BORROWED 52 Winchester.
HOWEVER, these were two particular rifles , certainly not the norm.
Anschutz rules the roost for position rifle shooting , no doubt about it.

I ordered a Kimber SVT from SIR in October. I was number 2 on the wait list. I'm still waiting. Wonder when it'll be in?
I can't complaint too much. I ordered a .204 Remington XR-100 three months ago from the local gun shop. Funny thing was a week after I ordered it, I drove 40 minutes away to another gun shop and they had it sitting right there. The local gun shop is lucky I'm patient and already made the order with them. Once I had them order the XR-100 it just wouldn't have felt right to go and grab the other one. I'm regretting it now though.

Update. I just called SIR, they're expecting my SVT in March. They guaranteed that my backorder would be filled first. So hopefully. I noticed the price on their web site is now $100 more than when I ordered.

Better buy the 1712 before I see it..LOL Have a cooper and it is a beautifull and accurate rifle. But ultimate accuracy is either a win 52 E
or An. 54 target model. Have both of those as well.

You have 3 target rifles and might buy a fourth.........
...............I HATE YOU

new Anschutz addition, cont'd

taffman,
If you're thinking of the 1712 in Edmonton Wlse Sports; sorry, but the gun counter said it sold a week ago. Don't fret too much. They make more. Call North Sylva for one. I know they have several in stock. :D Ask for Peter.
Have you looked at the 1710 Classic? It is nice too. I like the weight/balance. Heavier bbl. than the 1712. Technically, it is overweight for NRA Silhouette, unless you take off some wood or use lighweight scope/rings combination, etc.

I've been wanting to take my 1712 to the range, but it's been killer cold for the last two weeks, and we're running a shoot in two days! It's a 'fun shoot' Designed a BR shoot from scratch based on playing cards. We're gonmg to initiate trouter-chris! ;) Should be a hoot. I am sure we will be hearing from him and sandymac about it, or even The Crow.

The rack also includes a Finnish Lion, Walther KK UIT, Brno 4 and 5.
Still looking for a 40X..some day maybe. Into centre fire at the moment
and have a cooper 223 and a custom barnard 6br.
