The new Benelli 828U

Quick update - used it for 4 days in Texas, doves and upland. Shot great! Recoil wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting given the light weight. Shouldered and pointed perfectly (properly adjusted cast/drop) and had zero issues with ejection.

Only gripe - the safety is contoured 'backwards' and can be a little tough to disengage when wet or wearing gloves. Seems odd that the top of the button is scalloped, but the bottom has nowhere for your thumb to grab. Works okay - but I would prefer a little better surface for my thumb.

My concern about the top rib proved to be a non-issue. Overall VERY happy with this shotgun!

I think it's either a 'love it' or 'hate it' once you try it. The looks and ergonomics are quite polarizing. One of the biggest features for me was the cast shims... as a LH shooter, it's hard to find a nice LH shotgun or one with at least neutral cast. Also preserves resale value if needed instead of selling to a MUCH smaller LH market.

I love mine!

old thread but have to give my .02 worth several years have not had a better hunting o/u and I have used it hard .upland and ducks has not missed a beat and wish now it came in a 3.5 for pass shooting the big Canadas.Dont usually praise many shotguns but this one has met every challenge and that includes bettering my SBE 2.Will probably buy another why, hmmm just because :)
