The New Colt Python Officially Unveiled

I'm hoping this brings the older Pythons with "no box and no papers" to around $2K for value. Obviously the older pistols that were hand crafted in the 50s & 60s will retain a bit of a price premium. But I'm done with older Pythons without the original grips being valued at $4K Canadian....

I'm in because I love the gun and old or new I want to shoot them - so the more available the better. I have a few older Pythons and other snake guns. I'm glad Colt is selling an updated version.

Thanks for not gouging Bullseye....wonder how long they will take to come to Canada I somehow think March is very ambitious but ya never know.
Did the pre-order through bullseye, have to argee with you I'd think late spring early summer.

Been looking at US dealer availability and all the ones showing up within a day or two are already in the PY002200-PY002500 range. Meaning that they must be making 200+ a day.

I sold a couple near mint blue pythons last summer for $2300 each. Sellers that are asking anything over $2500 are not selling them.

+1! I sold a beautiful Blued one for $2350 after listing it for $2500 and it took a couple weeks. Sellers with Pythons without original grips for $4K may as well be asking $10K

Did anyone notice that the cylinder lockup, ramps are pretty big and almost touch each other? Will be buying on but definitely want to see a blue first.

I think they made the ramps bigger because of the simplified lock work for the bolt timing. You could adjust that timing on the old one but this new design is more like a S&W and not adjustable. That’s one of the differences from the new to the old Python.

I would think that estimate may be low since that equates to about 50,000 a year. That's equal to 80s production numbers like you had pointed out. I would think it could easily be double that.

Yeah, that's just initial production numbers, they officiially started a month or so ago. When they really speed up production we could easely see these numbers double. That would translate to 400-500 a day or 150k-200k a year on a 365 days a year basis.

No word on progressive rifling and slightly tapered barrel like originals?
Where this one was manufactured? Lines resembles Pietta clones as I remember them, trigger shape, hammer spur, long leads to cylinder stops, grips...

My oh my, production of ONE every THREE minutes..(and that's running 24/7 - which I doubt they are - so making them even quicker..) ....amazing...only a mint can make money faster....! Impressive!!

If there’s demand, they will double the production line and will work around the clock that you can bet on.

No word on tapered barrel or progressive rifling. It’s 1 in 14” turn just like the original though. They are etched made in Hartford, CT... I hope they are! And with US parts and steel.

The target is to bring the manufacturing costs to a minimum and maxing profitability, if they hit a home run with this release they will exploit it till the market is flooded.

Yep, I would, Colt has had its financial problems in previous years, or so I have read, so, they need a couple of hits and take advantage of them! I am ok with that as long as the product meets the hype, certainly don't want them to go T.U. Having said that I will still wait till the initial rush is over. I need to watch every dollar I put into my interests. Trying to be like my old man, who could squeeze a nickel till the beaver $#!ts...

Yeah and Colt bets a lot on the New Python’s release. I’ll post a new video next...
