The New Marlin 336

It would be nice if Ruger can keep a steady supply of the new Marlins coming north. Its so frustrating to see the newer marlins seliing for north of $2500 when its a $1500 gun.

The Marlins in 45-70 also seemed to take a jump in re-sale price after its Jurassic Park Chris Pratt infamy. Same could be said for the M305 (now a paper weight) in Jack Reacher with Tom Cruise. Throw in post COVID the buying frenzy of everyone being home during that 1-1/2 year or so and you have todays asking prices…

Are they worth their asking price? That’s up to the buyer ultimately and maybe to some degree on the quality of the new/re-branded versions.

Truth be told I’m a Win94 kinda guy.

I went with a Rossi R95 carbine in 30-30 and be happy with the build quality of the bugger. These have hammer forged barrels like Ruger/Marlins but have one piece firing pins along with AR type extractors and beech stocks fitted with good buttpads. No barrel band on the forend to boot. Rossi has got their game together these days.

I would gladly grab another one chambered in 360 Rem Buckhammer which should be added to the line I hope.

I have one of the Rossi r95s - just a fabulous rifle. Far superior to the old Marlins of which I have several.
Whats the price of these new 336s - I can only imagine

Mine shoots MOA or better with 3 different retail ammo and grain weights. That action is butter smooth
Very pleased with mine. I have the trapper like you. Slick rifle
