Exactly how much shorter is the grip compared to a standard size 1911 frame?
A photo of the guns overlapping would be most helpful.

Seconding this.
I think you are referring to the grip safety.
I looked the part up on a 1911 diagram and that's what I was referring to. I've only had experience on the Browning FN high power in the military and I didn't recall it having that. Thanks.

The BHP has an internal magazine safety that means the gun will only fire with a mag inserted. The 1911 has a grip safety that means the gun has to be held tightly to fire. There aren't many other guns that have a grip safety. Sort of an answer to a question that should have been ignored IMHO.
I'm relatively new to 1911's and pistols in general. Is the little lever/button on the backside of the handle a safety?
If CCW were a thing in Canada, this with a bobtail cut would be a very cool carry gun.
Mine arrived, looks pretty good, a lot of ugly rusty grease all over it , once its cleaned it should be great
How did it clean up? Did it arrive in a box or a plastic case if you don't mind me asking. It's my first semi-auto pistol and I'm pretty excited about it. I have really big mitts and hope the grip will work for me.
