The new SAVAGE "EDGE

That looks like a totally different action to me... but it's kinda hard to tell.

Interesting. It almost looks like Sako and Remington had a baby and dropped it on Savages door step.

This is all I could find over at Savage Shooters.

Savage EDGE ( started shipping March 1st, no info on availability) to be positioned between the Stevens & Accutrigger Savages.

1. New design, MACHINED receiver
2. New Bolt
3. New Trigger
4. DBM (plastic)
5. New stock

6. 223 1-9 twist
7. 243 1-9 1/4
8. 25-06 1-12
9. 7mm-08 1-11
10. 308 1-10

I'd have to say the action is different.

Based on MSRP alone its below the Stevens not in between. I wonder how it will do in terms of accuracy and customization

I like a detachable magazine, but there are reasonably priced Savage models that already do that, and they could have just added that feature to the Stevens 200. I don't see what significant advantage the Edge offers over existing Savage and Stevens models except novelty, and I'll be sorry to see a good gunmaker running down that road to nowhere.

I just like the fact it has a detachable magazine. If I had seen it I might have waited before buying my stevens 200 in .223. I hate loading the center feed mag.

With the name and stock design, it seems like they are trying to appeal to a younger, more modern crowd.

Interesting that there's no magnum calibers available. Could this gun spell the end of the Stevens?
