The New SKS build - warning, Tacticoolishness

Piffff Naaaaaaahhhhhhh .Now THIS is a front heavy SKS hehe... in fact, its just heavy in general. I blame the Archangel stock, AK 74 brake dangling on the end of a 20" barrel,,, and PO scope for all the weight...

Only stock worth while IMO for the SKS.

I agree, Its heavy. I got rid of mine for this reason, sometimes I miss it till I remember the weight and having to dismatel for corrosive cleaning :p

All mine are stock now. I feel they handle better.

I hear ya, if I'd do it all again I'd skip the optics mount and red dot. However I'm really proud of the 18.5" barrel which I recommend the OP to do, it will be shorter and really balances things out. I'd like to add that I installed the Sevensixtwo AK mag release system without regrets.

My main issue was I felt the pistol grip just didn't suit the egros of the platform. I also tried many different adjustable M4 style buttstocks and didn't care for any of them on the rifle.
Another main gripe was using detachable mags. I often shoot my SKS for hours on end. (At minimum 1 hour continuously) Changing and then reloading 5 round mags during that time became tedious, and frustrationing. I ended up just leaving one mag in the rifle and feeding it with clips, making the detachable mag unnecessary.
I much preferred using stripper clips with the OEM mag which I can load faster and carry up to 200 rounds of in a MOLLE pouch strapped on my vest. Just my 2 ¢
 
Hey all I have a Tula in an ATI stock and just got some baur mags, a Simmons 3-9x scope ontop her with a magwedge rail and weaver xtra high quad lock rings, jusy wondering do I have to do the bolt mod to use the mags? She wont stay open without the mag haha

The bolt will hold open when the mag is empty.
You'll only have to open the bolt manually once, at the start of shooting the rifle.
