The new Tikka T1X Rimfire

anyone find a 20 MOA Rail for the T1x? i have been trouble finding one and the one place i usually go to. (ATRS) says they are not making one.

EGW were interested in making rails when I contacted them in early December but they needed a gun to make the prototype. Not willing to ship mine to them

I’m sure if they asked around they know someone who knows someone locally who has one to lend. Or maybe in the name of business, take the hit by buying one so you can end up being one of the first to be fabricating this product in NA. I dont have a business degree, but I’d imagine that would be a smart move.

Same situation as with Boyd's. We aren't the only ones waiting for these rifles. I can't recall this degree of anticipation over the release of any new firearm, which says a lot about the regard shooters have for the Tikka product.
Luckily I'm patient.. lol. My days of "can't wait!" are pretty limited.
The run of rifles that Al Flaherty's had last week seems to have either been a remnant of the "first wave" or an early arrival of the second bunch. Has anyone reading this thread gotten a pre-order rifle through Al Flaherty's, or was last week's bunch the first ones they got?
The Gun Dealer had six 16" .22LR rifles a few weeks back, they sold quickly. They've since listed several T3's and T3x's on their site, so I think they've received more Tikkas from Stoeger, but no more T1x's.

All right, ladies.. get yer credit cards and PALs ready! I just got email notification that Al Flaherty's has 10 more .22 cal T1x's in stock! Put your money where yer mouths are and get buying.. lol
Me? I'll wait til I can handle one.

This was the very first time I bought a firearm without actually handling it, was far from disappointed.

I was told by a gent that works at Bass Pro that most large firearms vendors have access to the RCMP web site and can verify PALs online 24/7. Whether that's true or not I can't say.

Thanks for the heads-up; I have one on the way from Flaherty's thanks to you! :)

In case anyone else is looking for one now, Flaherty's doesn't show EMT as a means of payment on their website, but they will accept it if you just phone in your order. Williams' Arms in Port Perry (another outstanding dealer!) also shows the T1X in stock, but will not accept EMT payment.

Somebody has used the EGW rail for the CZ 452, 513 for their Tikka T1. There are two versions, one for the European dovetails and one for the American size. You will need the Euro version

I think that rail attaches with grub screws that bear on the top of the receiver? My 452 isn't drilled and tapped for mounts so I'm thinking that's the only way the EGW rail could be attached.
I like the idea of scopes being easily interchangeable via a Picatinny type rail, but not happy about possibly marring my receiver.
Some have mentioned using a standard Tikka T3 rail and drilling two more holes to mount it.
The T1x should have an 11mm dovetail, with low recoil from the .22 I don't see an issue with using claw type mounts like the Warne 721. Having said that, I don't object to using traditional 2-piece bases either.

The rail is attached using the clamp system,no grub screws through the top. I believe the rail #80910. It’s a picatinny rail. There are 2 versions, one for European dovetails and one for American

I just ordered a T1X .22LR with a 20" barrel as well as a wider front grip, a vertical pistol grip, and a heavier recoil pad to add a little more weight. The rifle will be used off the bench, beginning next spring. I'll use dovetail rings to mount a scope as I don't usually move scopes between any of my rifles.

YoDave sells a spring kit to help lower the trigger pull. I went and bought a varmint stock for mine. It leaves a “Grand Canyon “ under the barrel. Rimfire in the states has several running threads on ammo and whether the “shoehorn” affects accuracy

I've got a Hunter stock that's currently hosting a .243 T3 action, as well as the original Tupperware from the T3. It'll be virtually impossible for me not to use the walnut stock on the T1x, purely from a cosmetic point of view. I'm a who*e for nice wood, and I freely admit it.

As to the shoe horn, if Tikka designed it that way there's a reason for it. My T3 barrel had a couple of distinct contact points in the original synthetic stock, while the walnut stock is free floating from the receiver forward. The rifle shot slightly better in the synthetic stock.
It may simply be that Tikka believes that with the inherent flex in an un-reinforced synthetic stock, it's better to have a consistent point of contact with the barrel than irregular contact otherwise.

I've experimented with barrel shims in rimfire rifles before, they can have quite an effect on the vertical component of group sizes.
If my (eventual) T1x finds a home in the Hunter stock, I'll shim the barrel unless it shoots amazing groups free floated.
I'm looking forward to your review of the T1x, Grauhanen. Your results in the 5-at-50 challenge speak for themselves.

When my friend Bobc put the rail on my CZ452, he put a piece of #6 or #7 lead shot under each grub screw. The lead protects my receiver leaving me a happy camper.
