The new Tikka T1X Rimfire

The photo I posted has a T3 stock. I don't recall if there is any difference in the inletting between it and a T3X Hunter stock, but I'm thinking there isn't.

I think mine is a T3, I bought it used on the EE.

How much of a gap is there directly in front of the receiver using the Hunter stock without the "shoe horn" from the synthetic stock?

That would depend on your reasons for wanting steel. Recoil certainly won't be an issue. I'd be happy with aluminum, provided it's a higher- strength alloy.
6061 is the grade that I've seen in all the sites that have aluminum ones available or will soon be.

Chilly is quite right. A rimfire doesn't have any recoil to worry about. An aluminum rail will be more than strong enough as will aluminum (or steel) dovetail rings.
I know there is no appreciable recoil with a 22 rimfire. It's about getting a solid picatinny mount.

Wow...I just cruised through the threads Rimfire Central related to this rifle. One guy claims to have his mounted in a B&C m40-style stock, no picture though. Another claims that the gun will fit in to T3X stocks but not T3's. There is a long litany of other handles that people want to use, or have waiting to use, or want to order...but there is virtually nothing proving that a given stock does or does not fit.

The pics on this thread are pretty much the only solid evidence of this gun being mounted in a replacement stock that I have seen to date.

My gun has arrived today so when I get home I’ll find out if it mounts into a tikka t3 Varmint stock
I’m 90% sure it does with no mods I’ve I’ve talked to others that have done it

The Tx1 should fit into any synthetic T3/T3X stock. It will fit the T3 Hunter will some minor work. See post #791.

Just got the riffle no questions asked it fits in the Varmint t3 stock and not just fits it’s bloody perfect. Yes of course the barrel is smaller on T1X but as for the action it’s amazing how well everything lines up.

In that case, better hold out for a steel rail.

Other shooters can note that European rimfire rifles, including target and BR rifles, typically don't have rails or weaver/picatinny bases. It would seem that Europeans do not have apprehensions about the ability of dovetail rings to do the job. Center fire shooters in North America are more accustomed to weaver style bases and often transfer that preference to their rimfires.

It's a 34mm scope tube. I want a solid mount.

There are much higher calibre firearms out there with poly pic rails, aluminum will be more than solid. It's a rimfire not a 50BMG.

Not a lot of ring options out there for a 34mm tube and 11mm dovetail mounts so I go with a rail. Steel is stronger, but more expensive. Also not available right now so I bought aluminum.

Sportsmatch ATP34 34mm Extra High Adjustable Scope Rings for 9.5mm to 11.5mm Dovetails, check them out, more then enough ring for rimfire

Kinney’s now have the T1 rails for sale. 59.95US shipped via the post office

Thanks for the info! Ordered one.

I was really hoping MDT or NEAR would have one by now. Normally I would be more patient but I’ve been waiting almost a year for this rifle. It should becoming soon and I want to go plinking!
