The new Winchester M70

Has any one had a chance to handle one of these?? none available to fondle in my area. I have found very few reports on them with the exception of the Dec./Jan. Field and Stream issue.

there are so many quality rifles now (as compared to when i was a youngster and you just got a M70 because that was THE rifle) like the hawkeye, T-3, Rem7, Kimber M84 etc.etc.

My preference in rifles is lighter weight mid range hunting with somewhat MOA accuracy with factory loads.

Theres a thread in this section were a couple guys bought some Deluxe Featherweights. I checked out some featherweights at my local shop and they are top notch rifles, fit, finish and attention to detail on them is amazing and Im sure accuracy is great too. Buy one!
 
If you do a search for past threads, there was one discussing a member's purchase of one of the (2008) M70's... Some verrry nice wood and finishing on them from what I remember. Don't recall whether they posted accuracy results for their particular rifle though...

Jeez, jsdboy, how old ARE you? When I was a kid, we had the tang-safety Ruger 77, the Rem 700 and 788, the Savage 110, Howa, Colt, Smith & Wesson and Interarms rifles, the BSA and Parker Hales...mind you, I'm just a kid, that was the 1960's......
Read this. It's still a good rifle. Wish I'd kept mine, even if it WAS a push-feed.

Any one want a nice old browning BAR in 308????

ps. i'm not THAT old (50 sumthin......). i think it is a cultural thing. grew up in a small town in the states. i remember in the late 60's my dad picking up a marlin 336 RC and all anyone could do is ask "so what the hell is the matter with a Model 94??" the only .22 pistols were colts or high standards (ruger, you got to be kidding) i think canadians are more erudite in the firearms dept.
