First off it should be ANY rifle in a pump design. :eek: Its old technology and totally useless when compared to any bolt gun which is better. :cool: The only rifles that will be around in a few years are stainless synthetic rifles shooting the latest high tech bullets at light speed.:) So all the wood and blued guns might as well be sold for scrap metal and firewood and everybody get the newest WSM and forget the past.:p After all its almost 2006, so who needs a finely crafted piece of wood with cold blue steel anymore?.........I just woke up from a bad dream so disregard the above rant,:rolleyes:

If you are still asleep after reading 303carbines post and wonder where to send your "usless wood stock and blued barreled guns", send me a pm and I will dispose of them for you. It is a nasty job but someone has to do it!:D

As for the pump guns, take that back mister! :p I have had my best of times plinking at targets with my Grampa using his Dad's Browning Trombone .22.
My Remmy pump .22 is very entertaining too, complete with full octogon barrel and crecent butt plate!:cool: :cool:
Don't forget the old model 12 winchester for dusting clays. There's just something about cycling that action time after time when you shoot them like I do.:p

I had heard rumors our wonderful governsmuck was going to nulify the semi's once the registrations went through, I could see pressure going towards that. The way things are flaring up with the firearms and the elections I would say alot of guns will be in jeoprady.

I think the modern firearms will continue to come and go otherwise the industry will not survive if we don't feed the masses new ways to do the same old thing but in a different fashion. I wish they would go back to a more traditional style. I have a real hard time picking any particular gun but would say the ones they are making right now will phase out faster than the older ones that are mainstays.ie: Remmy SAUM.

I know, the next P.O.C. to go will be the beloved Remington 710. There, it finally came out of my pathetic excuse for a brain. An good ridance to it too.
 
710 probably wont be around in 5 years, and I think the Remington 673 wont be either.

Stevens 200's wont be as well, Savage is sure to run out of leftover parts sooner or later.:confused:

Hmm... well, I can see the Winchester 1200 based pumps being replaced with a newer design. The Remmy 710 is done like dinner for sure. I also see the demoise of the last of the push-feed model 70's in the near future - the CRF models are just doing too well.

Other good candidates include the Mossberg ATR and the Ruger mini-30 IMHO.

Speaking of pump rifles and trombone .22s, man, I love those things. I owned one briefly when I lived in Michigan but never shot it, and then had another one for about a year and goofed around with it a bit, then traded it and regretted. It was chambered in .22lr as I recall. My dad seems to have one but I didn't realise it until a couple of months ago. I want it!

When we were deemed old enough, my Grandfather let us pick a .22 from his stash to call our own. I picked his Dad's Browning T-bolt, high grade. I sure would have liked to take the trombone too. My little cousin got it, don't think he will even really use it, what a shame.:( Great Grampa bought it used in 1932, she is pretty loose but it has also slain a couple thousand gophers down by Strathmore after Grampa sold the farm and became a hired gun for pest extermination.

My Great uncle gave me his old Remington pump that he bought from a trapper up in the Bergen area back in 1933. It has survived well on the outside but the barrel is shot out of it. 4" groups at 25 yards.:( :(
Some day I will get the barrel sleeved. It's not in any condition for a collector but it will make a great usable family hierloom.
