The NEXT step rifle after a Rascal.

A slip on recoil pad would get your daughter more use out of a 457 scout if you went that direction.

Winchester Wildcat has last round hold open. I feel like that's a great feature for a semi 22lr, and they're pretty affordable. My only complaint about mine is the front sight is pretty chonky, at 50yds it covers the whole target. Savage Mk II irons are better IMO.

The 457 is what I’m thinking too because as she grows and interests shift or trends and local events change, it’s easy to Lego parts. 12” cf barrel and a light stock one year, 20” bull barrel and chassis the next year. Fun to build together and she will have that action you got her for a long time even as the rest evolves.

Prophet River has Scout in stock if you are looking for it. It would be a good choice especially since you have a son that will be able to use later.

I went with T1x for my daughters to share at this point. I have old Cooeys if I want them to do iron sights. T1x I can add accessories to stock to make it fit better for them, stock is not comfortable for me, too short.

Other options are some of the lever action rifles out there. I handled a savage revel a month ago, deluxe version and irons seemed like they would be good.

I had my oldest daughter out last year with a 1885 17hmr, single shot. She loved the action on it. Liked the lever opening the breach to load.

I have a boy who is 9 and I have a little badger for him with a compact 4x long eye relief scope. I also have a chopped down 10/22 compact and although the badger is a little long for him in the stock he likes the weight of it and has no problem operating it. With a little work a mark II stock can be adapted to work with the Rascal.

I bought a cz455 scout since I already had a cz455 standard. I eventually sold the cz455 standard and bought a used cz455 lux stock which I
setup as a 22 wrm with a 20" barrel mini set or I can switch it back to a 22 lr with a 16" barrel. It has a Sightron 3-9x32mm rimfire scope
