I think the Volquartsen Lightweight models with the Carbon Fiber Barrels are one of the most eye catching rifles out there. I plan on getting one exactly like the one below next year in .22 LR.

Anything Volquartsen would be nice to own, I have the utmost respect for their workmanship. That said, I'd echo the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" comment, but to each his own. I'm not a semi guy, and not keen on the 10/22 aesthetic either. Variety is the spice of life though, always fun to set "gun goals" for yourself. Like you, I'm saving for a new rifle next spring...only its a .223, and a bolt-action Savage. :)

Carbon-fibre barrell. Amazing. If it works, it could be a game-changer for heavy calibres.

Myself, I can't get that Benelli R1 semi out of my mind. ( benelliworldclass.com/r1_limited/ or benelliusa.com/rifles/benelli_r1_rifle.php)

What are the benefits of a carbon fiber barrel like that?
It's basically a pencil thin steel barrel with carbon fiber laid over it to strengthen it. Is it really stiffer and lighter then an all steel sporter barrel?

I have read the liner is still 1/2 inch thick.
