Just curious if the Brits used the No.5 rifle in the Korean War, i have seen pictures and i also talked to a veteran that the No.5 rifle was issued in Palestine, prior to the Brit withdrawl in 1948, was very common in the Malayan campaign in the late 1940's. Perhaps some of CGN Lee Enfield fans could provide more info on this, i know that any picture of Brit troops in Korea, they were carrying the trusty No.4, but maybe some No.5 rifles came through the supply pipeline....????

Not sure about Korea but No 5s were also issued to Brit troops in Africa. I saw pictures of No 5s being used during Kenya's Mau Mau emergency.

Wouldn't the Aussies have been more likely to have No1's? To the best of my knowledge of Antipodean rifle tendencies, they Australians never switched from the SMLE through to 1953 production... Excepting a few No4's bought for the RAAF from Canada, I believe.

(No offence intended!)

Cheers,

Neal
