Some rifles are handcrafted masterpieces. This one was apparently handcrafted with a shovel. The Norinco 334 is about as rough as a gravel road, and it's built with the fineness of a tractor, but it turns out to be a pretty solid shooting rifle. However, when the factory decided to drill and tap this thing for scope bases, The Chinese engineer must of though, "Standard threads? Bu yao!!" So, our gunsmith here went through the challenging task of getting a scope mounted to this rifle. After several hours of drilling and tapping the threads to 8/40 and milling a set of Weaver bases to match the receiver profile, (Absolutely nothing matched from the entire weaver catalog!) we finally have a scope mounted that isn't destined to run out of adjustment from out of aligned bases. Not every collectible needs to be elegant. Sometimes the weird projects are the ones with the best stories. So, if you're looking for a unique odd ball Chinese Mauser to add to your collection, this one here is optic ready. Because every serious collection needs at least one rifle that makes people ask, ‘Wait… what is that thing?
